Theory Nika Riots

#1
Hello there and welcome.
I've created this "theory" because I promised @minamoto some new stuff, I'll to be very fast and at the same time informative. Bear with me I'm an old school theorist and a bit rusty so let's go.

Intro
A couple of weeks ago while doing a random search on Wikipedia to find more about a Ester Roman general that I've heard in a YouTube video( I know I'm weird like that...must be why I'm single) I discovered something that made me wonder if this could be the inspiration for the myth/concept of Nika, and this something is none other then the Nika Riots in the Byzantian empire.

In-depth
You see in roman society the Hippodrome was a very popular place and it where people went to see the chariot race, believe it or not it was more popular than Colosseums where people were killed, this huge place attracted may people from the beginning of the empire. Even after the fall of the Western Empire in the East it was still going strong and it also become a place of politics. In fact in 532 when the riot happened there were 2 distinct political Factions Blues and Greens that were the biggest surpassing the Reds and the Withes. What you need to know is that the Greens were the aristocrats that baked the nephews of the old Emperor, while the Blues baked the current Emperor Justinian I which basically backed them as well and let them do a lot of bad stuff believing it will make his rule more powerful.

But why is this meaningful? Well thank you for asking voice in my head, much appreciated. In the Hippodrome the people chanted Nika or Victory to cheer for their charioteers. It would take a bit to long to talk about the causes on the riots in-depth so I'll make it short, new taxation laws were about to be made, people were feed up because of corruption as the Emperor was taking steps to make things better he started modifying laws and changing stuff rapidly angered the Greens and left the Blues felling betrayed by the changes. Further more following some arrests and executions made the 2 factions to unite together under one work "NIKA" in the hippodrome with the objective of deposing the emperor, they even proclaimed a new one in the Hippodrome, even though the chosen one wasn't very fond of the idea. He ultimately was right as because of the people decision he was later executed for treason after the revolt was extinguish in blood in the hippodrome.

I find all of this very interesting because of the name given to the Riot and because of the people that put an end to it:
By looking at this names I can see similarities to Im's family name Neorna sounds a bit like Narses which is also spelled Nerses, name said to be a derivation of Narcissus, and apparently fit for the man as he was a bit of a narcissist and also an Eunuch believed to have lived till probably 95.

I also find it interesting because Nika in one piece is associated with freedom and revolts which is why it made me believe this episode inspired Oda to create the character and call it this why NIKA.

In closure

So to wrap this up I believe Oda found about this even and draw a bit of inspiration from it to create a character that inspires uprising and use the word for victory as bit of a foreshadow of what is going to happen as in the end while some Nikas where repressed one will in the end Win.

Thanks for reading,
