Yes,Oda wanted Luffy vs Kaido to be the Goku vs Freezer of One Piece. And Wano to be the Namek of One Piece. I dont know if it worked (about the arc) but surely Wano will be remembered as the most surreal arc of the manga. But not the best one.

Thats a really good way to put it. If G2 was the kaioken of the series this is definently the super sayian and the new standard of strenght. it might even be good for the manga becsuse they prime of one piece east blue- skypeai Luffy was never really the underdog strenght wise. the space and time where a character can unambigously beat Luffy os over.

That’s a good thing. It means we don’t have to worry about multiple ridiculous power ups being thrown into the middle of a fight just to let Luffy win as if this were Fairy Tail.
It means we won’t get a fight as painfully dragged out as this anymore too, or antagonists be made to forget how to tell if someone is dead or not.

Aside from the weird character inconsistencies with Nika, the future looks bright.
