Ryuma was known as the King to the people of Wano primarily due to his feat but he never saw himself as one which shows the relevance of black blade.
Zoro and Mihawk also said the same thing describing themselves like that.
What caught my attention is that Ryuma heard about the reputation of "King" and hoped to fight him one day. There’s also a dracula who is speculated to have a long lifespan and describes himself as the absolute pinnacle of the world.
Zoro shows a similar theme here.
I believe we will get Ryuma's backstory when black blade lore is revealed but moral of the story here is that it's tied to strength and anyone who wields it sees themselves as above all.
