December 2007.
Kishimoto kills off Jiraiya.
It’s adapted into the anime by October 2009.
Oda realized Kishimoto is ballsier than him. Then in shock he began the choosing of what built up character to kill off. During this time he’s in the middle of Sabaody. We have Kishimoto to thank for giving us Marineford Akainu, aka Oda’s greatest achievement.
In jealousy of Kishimoto Oda uses Kuma to start his own sad story arc. Killing off Ace in 2010, Oda’s series skyrocketed.
Also by this time the only remaining Akatsuki members were Kisame Tobi and Konan, meaning Oda didn’t even surpass the full cast of the Akatsuki in writing.
TLDR: Oda is a fraud and Kishigoat deserves more glaze.
