Dragon was silently one of my favorite characters in the verse.
I like the fact that he is one of the few people who see the wrong in the world and instead of ignoring it or making it worse he strives to change it and actively go against the organization that he was once in.
That being said Oda really could’ve written dragon into alot of plot points that included freedom or saviorship.
For one the fisher tiger incident should’ve 100 percent been something dragon did and not shanks (fucking ridiculous that Oda did this lmao)
It would be more meaningful if the man who’s actively against it is actually trying to save slaves at the slave headquarters
instead Oda had shanks deliver this role after inserting his evil twin lol.
#2 The vegapunk and kuma plot
this was one of the worst honestly,Not only did he just decide to not save his two friends but one of them is technically dead lol.
We saw how easy it was for Kuma to escape Akainu, so dragon could’ve gone anytime and saved him lol.
Now there was a self destruct switch but that was never going to work regardless lol
He also completely had no intentions of caring for Bonney ( he might’ve not known she was kumas daughter tho)
#3 the liberation plot
It’s hilarious how instead of the dude who’s main goal is to liberate countries has less narrative of liberating than his son who’s Main goal in life is eating and fighting people. I don’t hate gear 5 for what’s its abilities are but the whole “warrior of liberation” thing should’ve been reserved for dragon.
#4 is he even attacking marijeos? Lol
After 1175 we saw that marijeos was actually not in a sea of flames and imu was probably just complaining about his gourmet lobster being served too late.
Even if it was if dragon is not in a mode of offense against marijeos this late into the story then he is just underwhelming.
He’s never struck me as a top tier besides his important narrative from what I’ve seen.
And so far I don’t think Oda would deliver as well as some of dragons fans think he will.
