This isn’t even getting into the fact that Oda has unintentionally fucked over the entire underlying theme of One Piece, that being of course freedom and romanticism. If Luffy is Nika/Joyboy and was destined to be so as predicted by Roger, Oden and the fruit itself, he by definition is not free. He’s merely a puppet of fate deluded into thinking that all these powers and lucky coincidences he’s been handed on a silver platter have been all of his own free will. They haven’t.
