Character Discussion Oda removed most of Nami's bad character traits, so he can do that with other straw hats as well, but refuses

Pretimeskip Nami hit her crewmates all the time, manipulated them into loans that they will never be able to pay back, charged them for everything, but now post timeskip, those qualities are basically all gone or less apparent. Additionally, Nami was also improved in bravery and strength, something her crewmate Usopp has been completely withheld of.

If Oda could improve Nami's character, then he can improve every straw hats character but refuses to do so. Sanji's gag is a complete contradiction to his values, he wasn't even introduced to be an over the top creep, that addition to his character came in Thriller Bark.

Zoro's genericness could also be improved on so he doesn't feel so forced and boring. Usopp's gag could also be dialed down as well, but Nami is the only one who gets the improvement to her character.

Ultimately, I think Nami had to be improved because she was the main heroine of the show, so the shows popularity depends on audiences liking her. Zoro and Usopp are hard characters to improve, Sanji though is an easy layup, his character was never a nose bleed simp in the first place.

You know that scene when Judge starts screaming a bunch of stuff he doesn't like about Sanji to Luffy, and Luffy is like "why did he start screaming all your good qualities all of a sudden?"?

She did mellow over time but on ther hand she gets less moments to show off her skills and abilities which makes her seem less competent than she used to, wouldn't say she got better as a character because of this. she got it better than Usopp though.

It seems to be what oda is doing in wano
All the character flaws are pretty much either turned into qualities or completely removed

But i don't really agree, nami's character post ts wasn't that perfect

She only had a few moments but 90% of the time she was a coward

Oda didn't remove her bad traits up until wano, he actually exaggerated the shit out of them



Nami was a coward for the most part of post ts, leading to many moments some people consider "bad" and made them question her loyalty toward luffy

But oda more than made up for it in wano

Same for sanji who's biggest "flaw" is his chivalry, some people were even saying that sanji is the least loyal strawhat, then oda slaps the "luffy, which version of me do you want around?" moment into everyone's face and his perviness seem to be lowered as well, from what we've seen he isn't crazy about osome and behaves normally


Zoro isn't as generic as he was before wano, oda didn't really add anything, he just showcased zoro's original character


As for usopp, he's starting to get some shine, it'll be completed in elbaf

I meant like the dude talks about Nami's "flaws" and I legit think those were funny and interesting traits that fit in her Cat Burglar - Rogue - role inside the crew, and the "voice of reason" among the stupids.

The fact Oda had a duo consisting of Usopp - Nami (the two rascals of the crew) yet failed to do anything interesting with it, instead putting the focus on Tama says everything about Lolda

Not really she had good moments post TS
She attacked BM
Fought Cracker with Luffy
Was imprisoned with Luffy
In Wa No she was great when she said Luffy will be PK in front of Ulti
She fought Monet (only one attack but it's good for her I Guess)
She keeped care of childrens in PH
Post TS she wasn't present in half of Wa No (before the raid) and during Dressrosa which is the main issue for me

Pre TS she was useless until Alabasta, good during the Enel part and against Kalifa and TB
