Oda self insert vs a character Oda did not intend to have in the story in the first place.... Kid did not stand a chance. Someone had to be the hype-tool for Shanks. If not Kid, who else? Law? Nah. An admiral? Honestly kinda with Aramaki and the ending of Marineford. Even with that said the only one that can/will merc Shanks in the story is BB.

It's actually similar to what Kaido did to Luffy at the beginning of the wano arc. The difference here is Shanks doesn't let them recover and train. He destroys their ships and robs them of their poneglyphs and basically leaves them to drown.

I feel bad for Kid since it's only a few months since Kaido defeated him in a similar circumstance and enslaved his crew. I bet he now understands why those pirates were running away to paradise.

Probably to show Kid growing as a fighter.

DP has a charge up/rebound weakness. Hence I’d imagine next time Kid will show he overcame it somehow.

Perhaps Kid will show off some new CoA technique he developed specifically to shield himself if DP ever rebounds.

It's not like Shanks couldn't destroy that ship to be honest. but you are right I think the giants combo attack took everyone out that was conscious and even probably inflicted more damage on killer and kid.
