I don't think so because Kaido was an apprentice at Rocks, although I don't rule out the possibility and What surprises me is that in the Viz translation it says Garp had to work with PIRATES to win the battle. I had never seen that translation before and it completely changes what is believed of that fight in addition to all the questions it has.

viz = mangaplus = official translation .

Viz made an application called manga plus for their manga translations they are the same

Is it just me or Garp looks like an astounding chad in this colored version?

Not that he already wasn't as spectacular as in the fragment under this coloration.

Sengoku also pretty on point. I never liked his character too much, but he is a badass.
