They are constantly telling people that One Piece is special and is not like the others shones but when people criticize One Piece/Oda they say that One Piece is just a shonen.

Oda does not kill any character- 'Is just a Shonen."

Luffy and his friends gain new powers from thin air- "Is JuSt A sHoNeN.

Law with one last resort attack every chapter- "Is JuSt A sHoNeN".

Why?

For years Op fans have been saying that One Piece >>> every other manga because it sells more but now that Demon slayer and JJk are selling more copies than One Piece(not all time) One Piece fanboys are saying that Quantity≠Quality.

They're pretty typical as far as fanboys go. There's a lot of elitism amongst OP fans because of how huge it is in Japan, how long it's been serialising, how much lore/worldbuilding there is - other series can never be as 'good' as one piece because of this in their eyes. Great series that come and go in a few years could never have the same cultural impact, so they idolise Oda and One Piece as perfect, they pride themselves in having watched/read it all, "The greatest piece of fiction blah blah blah". They've dedicated so much of their time and bias to OP that any insults to the series are taken as insults to themselves, so they get defensive.

There are even fans that will give 'criticism' when really they're just naming insignificant and surface-level issues, and even then they'll have prefaced (or immediately followed up) with several compliments to the series to make up for it. They think quantity = quality and "let's wait and see" absolves One Piece of all flaws.

Any fanboy is annoying, dude. You will find those in any other fandom and saying that "it's just a shonen" won't change anything cuz shonen is a genre like any other, an umbrella term what holds many other series, with typical-shonen tropes as you have mentioned, while still being an original and appealing story to the audience. Your frustration won't help it, sorry fanboy come and go and you won't help it
