General & Others Parallels between Ging Freecss and the One Piece

I remember reading Hunter x Hunter when I was younger like 10 years ago and I was excited to know the secret behind Gon's father and why he left Gon to Mito. And 300 chapters later we finally get the truth and it turned out that Ging Freecss left Gon because he was a dead beat dad who didn't want the burden in raising a child lmfao. Once I learned that, I dropped the manga lmfao. That is what the One Piece reveal is going to be since the hype of those mysteries are much greater than the actual reveal. All these mysteries are just hype tools which is why after 25 years we have yet to get a single reveal.

Dark Continent Expedition Arc is Best Arc i have ever read in any Manga
Dropping a Manga because you don't like the decision of one single character is pretty dumb
Ging has never been the premise of the show, he was simply a motivation for MC

Actually Gon too wasn't really looking for Ging because he is his father but more because finding him is among hardest quests a Hunter can take because Ging is regarded as Best Hunter in the world

Ging is more like entering Grand Line, not One Piece
It's just Oda did it in 100 Chapters while Togashi did it in 300 Chapters

The One Piece at least has setup for not living up to the hype. In gaimon's treasure the chests are literally empty. One piece has never shied away from highlighting that value is subjective.

It doesn't have to be some out of this world thing to be a good reveal. Something quaint and more poetic would still make for a good ending.

I just checked the threads created by @lee33 . All of them are about how bad one piece is or how bad Oda failed. He makes one rare thread praising some small thing in the story to cover up his agenda and then proceeds to shit on the whole thing.

As usual worstgen folks fall for such tricks and let him crap all over the place.

Actually my bad, I should clarify. I either enjoy reading mangas which are either heavily character driven like Naruto and HxH or mangas that are very plot driven like One Piece. One Piece is not character driven at all, it is 99% plot driven whereas HxH and Naruto are almost totally opposite since they are like 75% character driven.

I enjoyed HxH. My favorite arc was Phantom Troupe arc by far. I actually think the Chimera Ant arc was overrated since there was so much exposition and was unnecessarily too long. Killua and Meruem carried that arc. The reason I dropped it, when I learned about Ging, was that it was obvious to me that the author doesn't have a goal or better terms a conclusion for the story. I don't read mangas that don't have a clear overall conclusion. AOT has a conclusion, One Piece has a conclusion, Naruto has a conclusion, however HxH does not have a conclusion. The story of HxH is just about writing new random arcs that barely have any dependence on previous arcs i.e. the story is not linear instead it is a nonlinear story where each arc is basically random. I don't like stories like that.

Having said that, HxH is still a very great overall story and I would definitely recommend people to watch it whereas I would never recommend anyone to read One Piece. One Piece is the worst manga I have ever read, when your whole story revolves around a fucking mystery that has yet to be even partially revealed after 25 fucking years, that should be a clear sign that the story is only meant to milk the series as long as possible.

I think Chimera Ant is sublime especially for tension. I do wish Kaido, the WSC, will be as terrify as Meruem. Or at least Royal Guards. Instead, he is just a punching bag.

The new random arc you mentioned is what make HxH is masterpiece in my opinion. It is so clever for the writer to explore a new concepts and ideas without ruining power scaling and destroying what've been built up.

HxH author also tried to make manga reflect the reality. He clearly portray that Human is no better than chimera. The fact that Gin Freece is just a shitty father who don't want to hold the responsibility is just another example, which I actually think it's cool. Not to mention politic stuff in the manga that represents the real world.

Oh don't get me wrong, what Togashi did in terms of writing is def brilliant. It is definitely hard to create new random arcs and still deliver quality writing which TOgashi did. But I just wish that HxH had an overall conclusion, then I would keep reading it. And yep I agree with you about the Chimera portrayal. It was def a great character driven arc for both Merum and Killua.

Even if Ging Freecss's reason was shit, that doesn't change the fact that HxH is still of the best masterpiece out there. For example, Attack on Titan:
Most people said the ending was shit due to Eren not winning but the whole story and lore is still of the best out there.

Kurapika and Killua alone made it great.
