I’m guessing they’ll be used to hype up the Blackbeard Pirates.

Lot of people downplay Blackbeard by saying he’s only strong against Devil Fruit users which is why the only devil fruit less emperor is the perfect person to take down and prove blackbeards insane power.

As for the rest, Shanks’ crew is just kinda… meh. Once Oda revealed their names it kinda showed he didn’t have a big role planned for them as all of their names are hyper generic, more so than the Tobi Roppo names.

I would love a flash back showing more about them. We lack some many elements on their careers. We just know that the Blackbeard Pirates are probably approaching their power level assuming they didn't already surpass it which is very possible.
