Some Readers finished Wano Arc even though they didn't shut up about how much they hated it
And now even though it's over for months, they can't stop talking about it?
I really don't understand why they bother, just say you found it Trash & move on
Analysis on the faults of a particular media is entertaining.

2 Questions.

Why you said r/OnePiece if it is r/Piratefolk? I remember that r/OnePiece was the main one from Reddit which I was banned. I guess many people was also banned and they did that Piratefolk sub?

And why the first part doesn't show in the spoiler?

Man, this guy really hated Wano:crazwhat:
It seems to be quite the opposite. I only briefly glossed over the analysis, but from what I gather, the guy is making an argument that Wano was intentionally designed to be bad, as a way to represent the dystopian theme of the arc. He switched his writing style as a way to mirror that of the theme of the arc. That's why everything about Wano feels off, and different from how Oda writes every other arc.

And you know what, he might be onto something, as now that we are on Egghead, it's back to business as usual. I'll probably give the whole thing a read at some point.

I actually did a similar analysis on Dressrosa years ago when it concluded, about the themes of loss, forgetting, and remembering, and how Oda tied all that together, and perfectly transfered those same sentiments to the readers.

Or thing is simply bad

Like people that love Oda will always find a reason to justify his actions. Why can't an arc just be bad? Oda isn't a perfect author and he is prone to make mistakes

Even best of authors make them, Oda does too

Wano just wasn't as good

Could be. But then it begs the question as to why Egghead didn't follow in the same structure of this new writing style Oda used for Wano.

Doesn't need to.

Wano was always meant to be Oda's finest, and Oda most likely bit more than he can chew. Authors do it all the time, the burden of plot and characters becomes too big for the effort you will put in.

Wano IMO suffered from wanting to put too many plot pieces in the least amount of time. If Oda didn't force Yasui, Otama and god knows what else he would have more than enough time and energy to flesh out plot points that people care about.

But Oda being Oda has no restraint and did what he did. Dude even said Luffy won't defeat Kaido by simply punching only for Luffy to defeat Kaido by simply punching

That's not what Oda said. He said he didn't feel readers would be satisfied if Kaido lost, simply because Luffy's punch was too strong. Meaning, Luffy simply pounding on Kaido, until he finally beats him, wouldn't seem right.

And that's why Oda put Kaido through the ringer, and had him suffer insurmountable amounts of damage from many different characters, in order to make his inevitable defeat more believable.

Luffy punches and kicks. How else did anyone expect him to KO Kaido? The statement was never a matter of how Luffy was going to finish the fight, but rather how can Luffy accomplish defeating this guy, that would be believable. He did that, by dishing out massive amounts of damage to Kaido, from many different angles.

You can coat it as much as you want, Kaido was taken down by kicks and punches, like exactly bcs Luffy's punches were stronger.

Oda tried to sell us something and it didn't work, simply as that, he bit more than he can chew

It made perfect sense to me. I'm not one of those people who looked at Oda's comment and thought "He must be talking about Luffy's finishing move", Lol.....

Nah not finish move but more as a plot point itself.

He tried to sell something he couldn't fulfil. Which is basically Wano in a nutshell. It just isn't as good and for the first time in a while it is surprising to see so many people agree

I agree with everything. However the thing I don't understand is those unnecessary plot he put while neglecting other important plot. Like putting Kanjurou fake deaths but ignoring the presence of BMP.

Because Oda has no self-restraint in writing and can't cut plot pieces to make the story more digestible and better overall

I don't know. I always looked at the comment as, Kaido is not someone Luffy can just go up against, overcome via a slug fest like all his other fights. It was going to take much more than the usual brute strength Luffy has used to overcome every other obstacle, and it did. The amount of punishment and damage Kaido took, and new abilities Luffy acquired in order to get to the point where he could stand against Kaido on his own was pretty extensive.

I don't think anyone in this World can argue that without all those external factors that helped Luffy along the way, he would have never succeeded in beating Kaido.

Doffy - Luffy got help
Cracker - Luffy got help
Katakuri - Luffy got help
Kaido - Luffy got help

Luffy finishes the fight with usual strong punch/kick

Like Kaido fight is nothing different than any other fight he had recently.

I am actually also satisfied with this outcome and enjoyed the fight. And I think Oda is being consistent in writing Kaido ever since Dressrossa where Law stated that he is not someone who can be dealt with words but strength comes first.
