Questions & Mysteries Rinbukun’s ceiling

#1
Rinbukun was a warrior General in Chu who fought through the Chu equivalent of the Xiognu. Respected enough to be sent to a coalition war as the #3 General, was acknowledged by Kanmei and was strong enough to be Shunshinkun’s security during his meeting with Riboku.

He was in a relationship with Hakurei’s sister and only had B for experience, which gives us an indication of his age or how far along his own development path he was on.

93-85-85-B with aspirations of becoming a Great General of Chu.

What was his limit as a General?

Unfortunate that he ended up perishing against Tou in the initial stages of the coalition war, but the majority of characters introduced in the series rarely get stronger, unless they're part of the main trio or direct rivals with them.

His leadership and intellect might have increased a point or two if he lived to fight another day but his that stat of 93-94 is a very common stat, shared by the likes of Ousen, Kanki, Karin, Gyou'Un, and even Kyou which is nowhere enough strength for a frontline GG that specializes in cleaving through mooks in an opposing army formation like butter.

His limit was Heavenly Kings-ish level. Don't think he had the talent to become an actual great general.
Would he not be near there already, given he’s an established power house in Chu?

Looking purely on a stat level (just to paint a picture) I think his 93-85-85-B could result in a 95-88-86-A type stat.

He should already be near his limit i guess
Given another decade or so his experience and weight might have increased and he would go from the lower end of heavenly kingish level to near the top of it.

What makes you think he was near his limit? He was relatively young given that he was with Hakurei’s sister and had B for experience (which I appreciate is kinda flawed). I think he was similar to CA Keisha or Kokuyou Kisui in terms of where he was within his own development

No he's not like Kisui who had no prior fighting experience or the teenage Keisha
Rinbunkun was already an established general and had served on the frontlines for decades
He's in his 30's minimum

I think he was already at his limits in terms of talent. But it's possible with more experience against armies of other states he could've gotten better.

He more than likely could've gained more weight overtime and also increased his base martial prowess. Strategical growth is where the question is for me. But say he attains the same amount of experience as Mougou and Choutou, he'd be a superior general to them imo.

What makes you say he served on the front line for decades? He was B for experience, he was in a relationship with Hakurei’s sister. Hakurei is Shin’s ahe and it’s doubtful there’s some huge age gap. He openly discussed his ambition and goals as if his road or journey was in front of him.
I take your point on Kisui being hidden/not battling on the front lines but Keisha wasn’t like that. Rinbukun was an established general but that doesn’t mean he was not relatively young himself.

I don't get where you get this young Rinbunkun from
Rinbunkun looks about 40
Being in a relationship with Hakurei's sister doesn't mean anything for his age when a 50 year old Ouki was still in a situationship with a 20 year old Kyou
His B experience doesn't matter since Gokei also had a B experience
He had room for some improvement i guess but it's not like he was like the Q3 who matched GG's at 20 years old and was just about to come to his own.

I don’t think this colored drawing by hara looks 40 tbh. Looks in his early 30s to me.

Gokei having B is a good example and makes very little self but is that not an outlier? Look at other characters. Likewise, Ouki/kyou is an example (albeit 30 year gap is a huge exaggeration) but is Sei far older? Bihei? Shin with kyoukai? Earl Shi and his sister? There’s no way of knowing for sure, but when you look at the majority of examples, I don’t think a B experience, being with hakureis sister, looking like he does, and him discussing his personal goals, would indicate that he’s a guy somewhat close to the end of his personal journey.

he’s obviously not new gen potential or anything. He’s not GG under the heavens as Tou said, but if his journey follows the majority of cases, when his B turns to A and stays there for a while, he’s gonna improve his duelling and his leadership will definitely improve as per 90% of the characters according to the guidebooks. Hence I’m saying 93-85-85-B can have a jump or two and end at 95-88-86-A. That’s still a long way off the greats but it’s still very good.
