Character Discussion Roger as a character

#1
Is it just me or is Roger when it comes to character design, name, etc it’s boring compared to BM, WB, Kaido, etc.

He just seems to lack the extra creativity the others from the old era have. When it come down to his design he just seems average, compared to someone like WB who has the white mustache, the big chin, the laugh, etc.

Roger only has is black mustache that really stands out… I understand Oda is making this Luffy story but what is the point of even having Roger, if he doesn’t really seem to do something, sure he found the one piece but he didn’t create it, nor was he JoyBoy. At this point he only really exists because Luffy needs the title of Pirate king.

It just feels like WB, BM, and Kadio (well maybe not Kaido) have accomplished many thing before and after the great pirate era was over.

Examples:

(Name) Gol D Roger
(Crew name) Roger Pirates
(Ships name) Oral Jackson
(WG name) Gold Roger/king of pirates
(Son’s name) Portgas D Ace
(Sword’s name) Ace
There all basically the same name's repeatedly, the only difference is the “king of pirates” and the “oral Jackson”.

Compared to whitebeard:
(Name) Edward Newgate
(Crew name) Whitebeard pirates
(Ships name) Moby dick
(WG name) the strongest man
(Swords name) Murakumogiri
Look how creative and different each little detail of the WB pirates is.

Even Roger’s Jolly Roger is just the regular one piece skull with a mustache.
While WB has the skull to match his design, even the back of the bones of the Jolly Roger are a little different to make it more unique.

I making a deal out of this because in the one piece world your name and what you symbolize is important. It just feels like there’s so much creativity with the old era, and when it come to Roger, one of the most important characters in One piece, he just feels like he lacking, Of course, I understand that we don’t have the full story with him, but with the information we do have just feels weak.

Gold Roger was a very fascinating character

But then the Oden flashback happened.

Not only he displayed Luffy-like manners, but his role was also tarnished in a certain way.
Many accomplishments that were attributed to him were taken away from him, some of them partially while others altogether

He is not anymore the owner of One Piece. Joy Boy is.
Even the name One Piece given to the treasure it's not his work anymore, while before Oden's flashback all the people supposed that he was the one that named his treasure in a such way.

Now he seems to be only a proxy to Joy Boy.
I still like him, because I can't forget how much I liked the concept of the old Gold Roger

Logue Town's filler about Gold Roger still gives me goosebumps

Exactly! Roger was one of my favorite characters but then the damn flashback just made him seem so insignificant to the story, despite Gol D Roger being one of the if not the most important role model and character to the story.
