A child getting permanently changed into a dog just because her father is a PoS who would stopp that low is pretty sad if you ask me. Especially since the child in question retained the bare minimum of cerebral function to be able to call out a name when prompted to.

Pretty sad yes, but we didn't even get much time to bond with her. Again it was mostly for shock value and to show the differences in morals from person to person. Being a state alchemist doesn't necessarily make you a good person.

I might just be a sucker for scenes like that. If something bad happens to kids I can't help but feel sad and cry

I would agree with this, but the part where the Chimaera looks at Ed and starts worrying about her "dad" breaks me every time.
Also the aftermath of Scar killing Tucker and the Chimaera crying is too much.
