Character Discussion Sanji vs Zoro:- Who had better character moments in Wano

#7
The very first chapter of Wano
Zoro saving Otsuru
Zoro's interactions with Yasui
Zoro vs kamazu
Zoro vs Hawkins
Zoro vs Apoo
Zoro's interactions with Hiyori and Toko
Zoro and Chopper
Zoro and Marco (the anime had Marco in tears when he saw Ace in Zoro)
The entire rooftop
Zoro vs King
Kuina still being his best friend
I'm probably forgetting a lot of things, every Zoro chapter was a banger. :myman:

If we're talking about standalone moments then probably Zoro

In the beginning it felt like Oda was painting a pretty good picture of what it would be like for Zoro for the rest of the arc

Funny moments, learning about Wano, traveling by himself and getting to know the people, growing attached, etc

It really felt like this was Zoro's arc at the beginning (as much as it could be since Oda is the biggest Luffy fanboy on the planet)

Again, at the beginning

Once they got to Onigashima it felt like Zoro fell back into his usual role

Fight the second strongest guy and take him out

The Rooftop section was an added bonus but at the end of the day that's the meat and potatoes of what he did during the war

All of the great moments that Zoro had that could've led to something led to absolutely nothing

He didn't visit Ryuma's grave, we didn't learn about his past, he didn't avenge Yasuie (this would've been fine if Hiyori was actually the one to do it lol), he didn't round up the Samurai, he didn't lead the charge (growth as a leader), he didn't defend Wano from the WG like Ryuma did in the past, etc

I think when people say Sanji had "better" character moments it's because of the lack of expectations Sanji fans had in an arc everyone thought would be about Zoro. Most Zoro fans (even the ones that powerscale) left Wano disappointed because of the amount of dropped plotlines that he had even though he had far more panel time than anyone else in Wano excluding the main character

So I think I'd have to give it to Zoro even though Sanji had much better moments than I thought he would

Zoro for like action focused stuff and Sanji when it came to actual character development stuff. Though I do like the Kozaburo stuff and things that hint to the audience that Zoro is from Wano and related to Ryuma I just wish we got a bit more.

Both has great character moments but I'll say Sanji because his Germa story concluded with him destroying the RS while Oda pulled a Tite Kubo with Zoro's major plotlines in Wano which is a big waste of potential.
Zoros plotlines were retconed. Oda clearly wanted zoro travelong wano meating people learning history and leading samurai to fight... ended up not using anything and zoro just being lazy bum not wanting to be a leader by hes own words... there was potention for mini Oden but nah, Oda scrapped it and once again whole arc was focused on luffy

Yh I agree. No one was expecting Sanji to be the main focus of Robin's fight for example. The lack of expectations for Sanji....made his moments more enjoyable.

Both were pretty good.

Sanji had his best near the end of his fight against Queen whilst Zoro's best was interacting with Hiyori and Yasuie and during Rooftop and vs King in my opinion.

Sanji was a bit more dynamic as a character this arc, choosing to put his pride aside and wear the suit to help deal with Page One efficiently but ultimately getting rid of it when it placed his humanity at risk. Putting aside his usual tendencies to tell Zoro to off him if the situation requires it followed by him destroying the suit that could've granted him even greater power was really great in my opinion.

Zoro didn't change much but he carried out what was expected of him (for the most part) and did it wonderfully, aiding Luffy while testing himself, plus forming pretty nice bonds with the local people.

I enjoyed Sanji more but I think they both had it good.
