After the Saturn revealed I realized something important no one talks about. The Gorosei and Ancient Weapons all take their names from Planets. However Shirahoshi is different as she is Poseidon (Greek God) not Neptune. This has to be something Oda is doing intentionally as a Hint.
Then I realized Poseidon controls the Seakings. In Japanese Seaking is 海王 - Kaiō
The planet Neptune is the Seaking Star or 海王星 - Kaiosei
So Poseidon’s ability is to control basically Beings that get their name from the planet Neptune. So it’s very possible that Poseidon was originally called Neptune and Poseidon’s name changed when the Original Neptune died (or defected, but more on that later).
Interestingly Vegapunk recreated technology from the Ancient Civilization that could explain how Poseidon works. As Vegapunk has the ability to not just create synthetic clones/cyborgs like the Punks, but others beings like the Seraphim, Dragons, and insanely similar Mech Sea Beasts Lilith commands.
So the original Poseidon (Neptune) could have created synthetic beings known as the Sea Kings, while assigning them to obey her lineage factor like the Seraphim chain of command. Then when someone with Neptune’s lineage factor was reborn the Seakings would obey that person as their Ruler, allowing for their to always be a future Neptune, which then was called Poseidon.
Looking at the Ancient Weapons names and connection the Vegapunk’s Tech further. The Punks are given the name of Satellites. In-fact while the Kanji used for the Satellites means “Cats” due to Kaku using a play on words. The normal Japanese spelling for Satellites is 衛星 - Eise. Which has the same 星 for Star or Planet as Neptune (海王星 ), Uranus (天王星), and Pluton (冥王星). Furthermore the major planets are often describe as Satellites orbiting the Sun or the Earth.
This brings me to the 五老星 Gorosei = Elder Planets, and even named after them with Garcia being named Saturn.
So if this follows the same Model as the Punk’s, IMU would be the “Stella” body and Gorosei + Ancient Weapons would be the Satellite Punks
Also assuming IMU split his mind similarly to Vegapunk this would mean each of the Gorosei corresponds to the same idea embodied by the Punks: Good, Evil, Idea, Wisdom, Violence, and Desire. Additionally the idea that the Gorosei are IMU’s Satellites is hinted at in them being called Saints. The Kanji for Saint is 聖, which while different from 星 is pronounced the same way “Sei”. Additionally the CD name likely comes from the Japanese name for Meators, which are called 流星 - Ryuusei. Ryuu refers to Dragon and Sei again for heavenly body. Oda is clearly again using play on words to hint that CDs are tied to IMU’s Satellites.
Yet another hint is in Saturn technically having 3 names(which I assume the other Gorosei follow Suite with)
ジェイガルシア・サターン聖
Jeigarushia Satān Sei
Jay Garcia is the real name, but then he has the code name Saturn, and he is a Saint (Sei). Punks have their own name York, Code Name Desire, and are Satellites (Sei). Also they are associated with an Animal (Cats), like Gorosei are associate with Dragons.
This also applies interestingly to Shirahoshi:
Shirahoshi is her real name, then she has the code name Poseidon (Neptune), and she is a member of the Ryugu Royal Family. Even more interestingly if we reach just a tiny bit. Female Celestial Dragons like Saint Shalria, have their “Saint” title not spelled with The Kanji for Saint 聖, but the Kanji 宮 Gū, which means Imperial Palace. The Ryu Gū royal family gets their name from RyuGū palace, which is associated with the Dragon, just like the CD. So in a way Shirahoshi is also a Dragon Saint. Pluton is also tied to a Dragon Royalty (Momosuke/Wano).
Moving forward I think Oda is also hinting at which Gorosei correspond to which Punk on the cover of 1075, where Stella is standing in-front of the 5 Gorosei. In Order this would mean:
Ghandi - Good - Mercury
Big-Beard - Evil - Venus
Eggman Man - Idea - Mars
Blonde Dude - Wisdom - Jupiter
Saturn - Violence
To determine if this makes sense let’s first look at the CD.
First if we look at Ghandi as a real person, he is known for a Philosophy of non Violence and Virtue. This fits very well with the idea of him representing “Good”. Also “Shaka" is the Japanese name for Buddha. Ghandi is not only one of the most famous practitioners of Buddhism and followed the Buddha’s teachings, but he is often consider the second coming of the Buddha or closest to Buddhahood. Additionally some of the main symbols of Mercury his helmet and winged shoes. Shaka’s most prominent feature is his Helmet Head and he was the one who controlled the Dom Shoes that propel the user to near flight much like Mercury’s winged shoes. Ghandi doesn’t have a helmet but Mercury is also associated with Metal and he carries a Sword and wears traditional Japanese sandals in place of the shoes the other Gorosei wear; it also might be a bit of reach but sometimes bald head man are referred to as helmet heads. So we can see a-lot of cross over between Mercury-Shaka-Ghandi-Gorosei.
In this case the actor/singer behind the Gorosei is Ben Kingsley. Ben Kingsley being famous for his Philanthropy and even being Knighted also fits well with the image of “Good”. Ben Kingsley also starting out as a Singer in the Band the Vikings.
Moving to the next Gorosei we have Big Beard, who looks extremely similar to Gan-Fall. Gan-Fall is based on the character of Don Quixote. However falling in line with the Gorosei being inspired by real figures Big Beard is probably based on the actor who played Don Quixote in the turner classic move/musical Man La Macha: Peter O'Toole. The important part here being the connection between this Gorosei and the DonQuixote family, which is primarily associated with Great Good, but even more predominantly Evil, with Doflamingo even being titled Evil’s champion. Therefore Big-Beard who we will just call Peter, being a representation of Evil fits very well.
Additionally the Home Kingdom of Donquixte is known as the Kingdom of Love; which relates to Venus the planet of the God of Love. Additionally the Vegapunk of Evil that corresponds to this Gorosei is named Lilith is the incarnation of Evil Love (Lust); and Dressrosa is also known for Crimes of Passion, which is also essentially the Sins of Lust or Evil Love. Don Quixte the novel itself being a Parody of Romance/Chivalry is another way we can relate this Gorosei to Evil love. Peter songs in the Musical are also about very much about Love.
Next let’s move onto the third Gorosei, Eggman. As I title him this Gorosei seems to be based on the character Eggman from Sonic; something Oda clearly has referenced to with Egghead island. Being inspired by Eggman a famous inventor villain, we can clearly see how this relates to the concept of “idea”/“invention” and Edison. However Eggman himself is based on Theodore Roosevelt a famous American president known for being a war Hero, which relates to the Planet Mars (the Planet of War). Egghead island is also located very close to Elbaf which is inside Warland; and therefore Egghead may also be, which furthers this association between Dr Eggman and War in One Piece.
Most likely the actor/singer he is based on then is Sidney Blackmer who famously played Theodore Roosevelt in films. Also the Gorosei has a Soviet Union president famous head markings, which is likely a reference to Blackmer’s character in a 1980s episode of Outer Limits where he plays an American President replaced by a Soviet double, the joke here from Oda is that Eggman Gorosei is Blackmer playing Theodore Roosevelt but really a Soviet Cold War Dictator in disguise, which brings us back to the War theme again. Sidney Blackmer was also a boardway actor bringing us back to the singer/actor combo theme again.
Moving to the 4th Gorosei, Blonde dude would be “Thought” or “Thinking”. I’m really not certain who this guy is based on, but my best guess is Chuck Norris. I’m not sure why Chuck would be associated with “Thought” or “Thinking” unless Oda is just making a joke based on the Chuck Norris Memes about his Wisdom, but he fits very well for Jupiter as a symbol of strength, since Jupiter is the Strongest God. Chuck Norris doesn’t seem to sing ether, but there is a Band name the Chuck Norris Experiment; though oddly they are about a different Chuck Norris. Maybe this Gorosei is thought because it requires a-lot or thought on where to place him; or his is an amalgamation of many different actors/singers.
Looking at the 5th Gorosei Saturn represents Violence. This is kind of on the Nose as Saturn is headed to Egghead right now to literally bring Violence and murder everyone there. Saturn the God is modeled after Chronos who ate his own children, which is kind of mirrored by Saturn being on his way to destroy the Punks which used to be his own assets. Additionally Chronos is one of the Titans and so it Atlas the name of the 5th Punk.
Why Oda choose Jerry Garcia as the Model for Violence most likely due to his connection and friendship with the Hells Angels, one of the most Brutal gangs of all time. Garcia even stated that the Angels violence is their honesty. Like wise Garcia also directed and stared in his own movie about his Band the Grateful Dead making him an actor/singer.
Overall the Gorosei inspirations I cited are my best guess and might turn out to be wrong or mixed with other character. What’s important is that they parallel the Punks very well as having inspirations based on major actors/singers.
Interestingly Shirahoshi is also potentially based on the Jpop singer/idol of the same name who is often wears Pink (and has the band Pink code name) and from the Houkago Princess Band. She also seems related heavily to an emotion this being Feat/Sadness. Falling in line well with the Gorosei.
——
Moving on from the Gorosei and Shirahoshi, there are 2 More Planets (Ancient Weapons) and the Sun (and maybe Moon).
Looking at 天王星 - Uranus - Sky King, while no specific animal has been identified as a Sky King it’s easy enough to see that Uranus could control some sort of Sky King(s) through a similar means as describe in the Poseidon example. In-fact the Dragons Vegapunk made could similar to Sky-Kings, and Uranus controls the Dragons. Which would essentially make Uranus the opposite of Poseidon/Neptune, so instead of Sadness/Fear Uranus could be Courage/Anger. But given this idea that Uranus will be Courage/ Anger based I don’t think he fits with any of the Punks; though it’s possible they will end up Paralleling the Seraphim; as it’s 6 Punks and 4 Seraphim; though we don’t know who Uranus is or enough about the Seraphim to prove this yet.
Harder to say with Pluton, but it’s unlikely a ship is the parallel York the 6th Punk ether.
However Sun God Nika parallels York very well. The reason being that Vegapunk describes DF as manifestations of 望み (desire)which is the exactly the emotion that York represents. York is obviously the negative aspect of Desire while Nika is the Positive aspect. Oda even switches around the Kanji using a much more negative “Greed” based Kanji for York’s desire. We have also seen this duality in desires throughout the story with many people having negative and selfish desires, while others have more altruistic desires. Interestingly with Vegapunk himself he has an altruistic desire of finding free limitless energy, while York houses his many negative desires.
With IMU is the inversion of this where Nika DF contains his positive desire and will; Will of D. While his main body and the CDs contain his negative desires much like York, whose entire plan is to become a CD. This fits really well with the Will of D being in opposition to the CD and IMU; as they are opposing half’s of the same will or desires. This opposing sides of the same will works whether IMU represents the Moon or the Earth in contrast to the Sun; as both can be seen as opposing forces.
Additionally Nika would parallel well with York, as York betrayed Vegapunk for the sake of worldly desires over altruistic desires. The inversion of this would have IMU’s own Satellite Nika betray for the sake of altruistic desires over worldly desires, creating the will of D.
This also explains several hints in the story. Firstly when we see Joy Boy’s Shadow during Fishman Island Arc, it looks nothing like Nika’s Shadow or Luffy, looking more like Shanks (if anything), which suggests that Nika and Joy Boy are different people, but when Luffy awakens the Nika DF, Zunesha says he is Joy Boy returned; which suggest they are the same. However if Joy Boy is IMU and all of his satellites this fits perfectly. Additionally this explains why IMU has Joy Boy’s Straw Hat while Sun God Nika doesn’t; as IMU is part of the Joy Boy Legend.
Additionally we can see this parallel between Nika and IMU even more if we make a very logical assumption about IMU’s powers. Back when we didn’t know Luffy’s DF was a Zoan, many people speculated it was really the Resin DF, due to Luffy looking like Resin when awakening and his connections to the Sun Light Tree Eve.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/tc60lf
We found out this wasn’t the case but the CD and IMU continue to have a strong connection to Resin and Sunlight Tree Eve. Pangea Castle is built above (or around it); and the CD all wear Resin Bubbles on their head. Now in egghead we’re learning these resin bubbles can be used for defense or offense (with sea powers enchanting them). Based on this IMU’s power through Tech or Magic could be control of this Resin or at least using it in tandem with his other powers. In this way all the connections between Luffy and Sunlight tree Eve would be True, it would just be hinting at IMU’s power and Luffy’s Nika DF would simply be a similar power as it was created by IMU.
An additional possibility here is that ES in the Tamatebako are also a result or a production of IMU’s power which is why they turn the users hair white like Nika’s and grant extreme power, but age them rapidly when they wear off similar to Nika Awakening. ES being made from the Sunlight Tree’s Resin would also fit as a portion of IMU’s power. IMU gaining control over the Sea too through spreading this Resin into the Ocean that he controls is also a possibility worth mentioning here as well.
Ether way this brings us to who originally ate the Nika DF; and the answer is Davy Jones or the originator of the Will of “D” (Davy). In One Piece Davy is a Legendary Pirate who takes what he wants from the Sea, which fits with someone opposing the Ruler of the Sea IMU. You also throw treasure into the Ocean to Honor Davy, which will fit well if the One Piece is Hidden underwater (extremely likely). Davy Jones is also known for the Davy Back Fight, where you traditionally fight for Crew Members. If Davy fought IMU to steal satellites from IMU namely Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto, this would fit even better. Also this will play heavily into a later part of this theory.
However if you have any doubts, that Davy was the original Sun God. Look no further then the Band the Monkees (obvious joke connection by Oda to the Monkey Family). One of the Band’s top singers is none other then Davy Jones! This same singer/actor was not only the voice actor of the animated adaptation of Treasure island, but his first single on the Album titled Davy Jones is The Road to Love (Road Poneglyphes anyone) about bringing Joy to all of Mankind, like Joy Boy. Davy Jones also sang lead vocals on the Song I want to be Free (and Luffy is all about Freedom).
Furthermore Davy Jones from the Monkees exposes IMU’s name as a misdirect, what Oda is really going for is I’M. We can tell this because the name is spelled in Katakana イム, and the last letter is MU, simply because there is no stand alone “m” Katakana in Japanese. This is why the Katakana for Ham is also ハム, Hamu. With that out of the way why is IMU’s name actually I’M, it’s because Oda is making a joke based on the top single by the Monkeys, I’M A Believer. The lead vocalist on this song being Micky Dolenz (or Braddock, his stage name), and this guy is the real I’M-Sama, which explains why all of I’M satellites are based around famous Singers/Actors (and the 4 Admirals are also as if I'M is trying to replace his missing sattelites), since Micky Dolenz is both an Actor/Singer like Davy Jones. Micky Dolenz was also the Drummer of the Monkees, so the Drums of Liberation are his (So probably of the Monkey family). Which fits with Nika’s Drum being his Heart; which symbolizes how I’Ms Heart (or true desire) is now inside the Nika DF.
This brings us to the end of One Piece and what it’s about. Roger says he gathered all of his treasure together and left it in One Place, which came to be known as the One Piece. So the One Piece really is the gathering together of all of Joy Boy’s treasure into One Place. IE you need to gather all of his Satellites together into one place, which will create the One Piece which is Joy Boy (or another way to look at it is gathering all the members of the Band back together), with the most important part being heart or dream of Joy Boy, the Nika DF. This is also what Davy Tried to do an failed, when he initiated the first Davy Back fight against IMU, but only succeeded in getting back 3 of the Satellites, not all of them.
This also means the final battle will be a Davy Back Fight between IMU and Luffy; to try and get all the Satellites back. Most likely there is something on Laughtale that explains the rules of this Davy Back Fight and allows someone to initiate it (basically the 3 coins equivalent). Roger couldn’t because Poseidon wasn’t reborn yet and he may have had no Ancient Weapons (Satellites) to wager; Luffy will have Several by the time he reaches Laughtale and will be able to Challenge IMU to the Davy Back Fight.
Then I realized Poseidon controls the Seakings. In Japanese Seaking is 海王 - Kaiō
