Interpol hires Sherlock Holmes under a fake name instead of L. Who do you think wins this one? Kira high diffs imo. The shinigami's eye contract is an unfair advantage. Light just needs to see Sherlock once to figure out his true name. Light's dad would be working alongside Sherlock too.

Don't know much about sherlock holmes, but the issue with light is that he's too egotistical and overpowered detective like L or Batman can draw him out

L essentially knew it was him the entire time, just couldn't prove it. With no plot conveniences involved I doubt he gets away as long as he did.
