I dont know where and why Shiryu got this Janitor tag or which faction named him as such but there is much unwarranted hate or downplay towards the character imo. What do we know about Shiryu so far? He barely has had any panel time, interactions and feats. People are ready to put BB very high in their rankings but are unable to do the same to Shiryu, they are quick to give benefit of doubt to Benn because of one VC statement or other featless characters but the same is not afforded to Shiryu.
Lets revisit what we know about Shiryu so far.:
1. Canonically same level as Magellan before acquiring DF (this Magellan had commander level guys like Jinbe, Croc, Iva running from him. He negged/one shot Yami Teach and his crew. Only Admirals and Yonkos have this level of portrayal where they have been shown to neg commander level characters or have multiple of them running away from him. Even now people rank post prison gain Croc above Magellan while the same Croc was running from him).
2. Shown as BBPs No.2 (this is special because Aokiji was already a member of BBPs (dont take this as Shiryu > Aokiji) at that time and afaik Burgess is BBs most trusted/earliest companion so this placement as No.2 is special, Oda aint throwing Shiryu their for nothing).
3. Stabbed Garp and took a slam in return (I think this exchange is downplayed with dishonest intentions, the stab is referred multiple times in the future and been shown to a significant contributor to Garps defeat).
What would you want from Shiryu to classify him as a top tier or give him same recognition as given to BB. So far the only negative feat he has is being slammed to the ground and bleeding by an injured Garp who Shiryu injured in the first place. People fail to accept that Shiryu didnt let go of the sword after the slam and was still smiling.
Now let me ask you this, if you want to judge Shiryu by higher standards then be my guest but then how would this reflect on Garp? Lets look at the alternate scenario where Shiryu doesnt take any damage at all, no bleeding, nothing. How bad would that look for Garp and Aokiji, imagine that. Garp had so far been shown almost unscathed in the whole fight even after clashing/fighting with Aokiji. But then Shiryu suddenly comes and deals a fatal single hit and then also receives no damage from Garp in return. It would completely ruin Aokiji and Garps showing until that point.
Give me your thoughts on how you would want the scenario to unfold after Shiryu stabs Iron Garp and how would that justify his placement on tier lists and portrayal.
