In this current arc, each of Luffy's rivals are going up against a yonko

Law is fighting Teach
Kid will fight Shanks
Lucci fought Luffy

That leaves one rival and one yonko left. Smoker and Buggy(Cross Guild)

Much like Kid and Shanks, we know that Smoker definitely has a grudge against Crocodile due to Alabasta. I feel like its very likely that some of the marine fleets coming to egghead will be intercepted by Cross Guild.

Smoker will face Crocodile and possibly Fujitora vs Mihawk? Who knows.

Nah all of Luffys rivals are fighting a better version of themselves:
Kid vs Shanks - red haired one armed conquerors

Law vs Blackbeard - Members of the D who focus on making huge plans to get what they want

Smoker will have to fight a better version of himself, for example:
Smoker vs Aokiji - Marines who don’t agree with the system but have a strong personal sense of Justice

Buggy won’t fight anyone, but when luffy becomes king of the pirates, I’m sure Buggy will sit on the empty throne as king of the world.

I guess we'll find out soon? Oda gave Shanks a birthday present (March 9), bringing him back into the story. Smoker's birthday is next (March 14th). Therefore, chapters 1077-1078. I think Smoker is more relevant to the story now than ever.
