General & Others Sometimes I just don’t agree with Oda’s decisions

#1
It’s a mystery to me how Oda makes certain decisions sometimes, like is he calculatively planning all of this or do these scenarios just happen?

And I’m concerned by the recent incident between Shanks and Bartolomeo, what was the plot relevance of that happening?

Wouldn’t it have been more interesting if Shanks and Bart met on a more friendly manner?

Sometimes I feel that the characters in One piece are sentient and Oda has no control over them, like they’re actually alive and do whatever they want, it doesn’t feel like a story written by someone which is the reason why it dragged for so long cause THIS is what happens when you’re not protected by the plot

Thats because Oda actively encourages this line of thought himself by acting as if he is some sort of translator that found an ancient manuscript he has no personal effect upon and just tells it to the people instead of the omnipotent writer of the story he very much is.

I unlike many people on here do not think he is washed or hate his writing, but the man is WEIRD in how he writes the story straight up. I swear to god sometimes he acts like Luffy can jump from the page and whoop his ass if Oda doesn't include at least 50 new characters each arc no matter how underdeveloped it makes many of the supposed main characters.

Your the weird one asking questions that will be answered in the future

Why?

I think you guys overthink these things.

3 possibilities:
-He wants to introduce Shanks as a future villain disguised as an ally;
-He wants to establish that Shanks doesn't play around with people who put his friends and allies into danger, whoever they may be;
-Through option #2 he is trying to make us doubt Shanks' goodwill to make the story more interesting and less linear.
