Speculations Sommers and/or Qilingham might actually end up getting eaten by giants

Eating the HKs was something Goldberg mentioned in passing this chapter. Given how we know DFs can be passed down by eating the user, I wonder if this could possibly be foreshadowing.

The new giant warriors are major characters in the Elbaf arc. Hajrudin is son of Harald, brother to Loki, and future king of giants. Rodo was one of the first characters the SHs met in Elbaf, we learned why he follows Hajrudin, and his brother was captured by the HKs. I wonder if these two could end up eating Qilingham and Sommers, thereby taking their DFs.

Qilingham has a busted mythical zoan, it would be fitting DF for Hajrudin if he wishes to be king of giants. Rodo with the thorn fruit would be a suitable right hand man to Hajrudin. Given how the other SHs are tied up and Elbaf is the giants’ arc, I wouldn’t be surprised if the NGWs are the ones who beat Sommers/Qilingham, with the monster trio fighting Dorry and Brogy, and the other SHs largely being irrelevant(sorry Bumsopp).

I don’t know if the NGWs will actually 1v1 Sommers or Qilingham. More than likely they will have help. But I think them eating the knights and getting their powers would be good development for them. It would allow them to be formidable fighters in the final war.

i think its time to reconsider whether big mom actually ate anyone. giants in elbaf clearly dont care about eating people

You know, if someone ate one of the Gorosei, that would finally settle the argument of if they're Devil Fruit Users or not, I guess.

...What am I saying?

No. Guys, no! This is a shonen manga for kids! Oda is not going to have one of the good guys become a cannibal, of all things! There will be no "heroic" moments where someone eats human flesh!

Uhh...except for Chef Zeff, I guess. But...only that ONE TIME!

Theory:

Remember when Luffy and Aisa got eaten by the snake in Skypiea? What happened next was that it tricked even Enel that they were dead - their precense was wiped out so even his CoO + Lightning abilities couldn't pick them up.

Now, we know Imus bound with the HK allows them to regenerate over and over. But what if that connection gets disturbed if a giant eats them? Basically think of it as wifi that loses connection while underground, within a giant the bound might lose connection.

That would allow the SHP to kill or defeat them from within a giant (Oda won't allow kill I suppose).

And if we want to look at even further implications then Kids fruit might become very important in the future as well, capable of locking Imu and Luffy in a huge room but one where damage can be taken without regen.

I specifically singled out "heroic" moments of cannibalism! Of which there are few! Lil' Linlin eating her friends doesn't count!

...Although...when you think about it...she did stop Mother Carmel's child trafficking scheme. So, I guess that MIGHT count as another "heroic" moment of cannibalism in this story? Even though there was a fair amount of collateral damage to that act.

And then there's that time our "hero" tried to eat a man.
(Which...if certain fan-theories turn out to be true, then MAN is this scene going take on a different meaning.)

...Is cannibalism actually a force for good in the One Piece world? I mean...I don't WANT it to be. But, we don't have many examples to pull from. And most examples I can think of have good parts to them.

I mean, I GUESS it can kind of fit with the whole hunger and food theme the manga also has at times. Satisfying someone's hunger is usually a good thing in this story. That's why there's so many banquets. But...it's kind of a twisted way to look at it.

Although, maybe it also ties in with how Devil Fruits work? If Devil Fruits are formed from people's desires, then when you eat a Devil Fruit, you're also kind of eating a piece of the person who wished it into existence. Part of their "soul" at least, in order to keep their dream alive. So...I guess that's another point in the good-aligned cannibalism column?

Okay, I guess this might come down to Blackbeard. If Blackbeard "eating" Whitebeard, in order to get the Quake Fruit turns out to be a "good" thing, because he's trying to overthrow Imu, I guess that would solidify the pattern. That would mean cannibalism is a force for good in this world. Which...that would be a WEIRD message, but we'll see what happens, I guess.

I guess MOST moments of cannibalism in this story are actually pretty "heroic" when you stop and think about it? So...I'm going to STOP thinking about this for a while. And I think YOU should, too!

...I couldn't stop thinking about it. *SIGH*

Okay, so Oda actually might be setting something up with all this. This might be a suspiciously pro-cannibalism manga because Oda's setting up something for the D-Clan.

There's a few important quotes to keep in mind.

"Never forget...Elbaph is of the D!" (Chapter 1171)

"In the society I come from, children are all told "Bad kids will get eaten by "D"!" (Chapter 764)

So, if Elbaph is "of the D", that means Goldberg's line MIGHT be foreshadowing a important point about the D-Clan. Eating people MAY have been a go-to plan, way back when.

Could the reason why the World Government hates the D-Clan be because they're cannibals? Is that why Imu thinks they can never get along? Because...the D-Clan WILL eat you?

I mean, I've had thoughts along those lines myself. But, I always was thinking it was going to turn out to be a bit more abstract than eating human flesh. I've been thinking the D-Clan might have the natural ability to "eat" pure Dream Energy, like what forms Devil Fruits. A race of royals literally eating the dreams of their people. More on that over here:

But, maybe it IS more literal than that? Maybe the world WAS ruled by cannibals way back in the First World? Who knows?

So, maybe the reason why cannibalism is a force for good in this world is because you NEED the power to eat things in order to set things right? Cannibalism being a good thing, because the D-Clan need to be forgiven for their crimes? Finding ways to use cannibalism powers..for justice?! Keeping people's dreams alive so that they can be fulfilled...by eating them?

Man, this manga takes me to some WEIRD places, sometimes.
