Hi worstgen,
I'm going to begin every theory I make by saying I hate presenting theories and I hate talking to people about them! Why? Because I never get positive feedback. Ever. However, I'm going to point out -- you should expect crazy theories for a crazy story like One Piece. What are you expecting? Everything to be perfectly reasonable? Ha! That's a laugh.
Since it's become apparent that Momonosuke is going to have his age increased by Shinobu's Devil Fruit ability.... I think it's a good time to discuss something about Momonosuke as a Devil Fruit user. He's dysfunctional!
The problem with Momonosuke as a Devil Fruit user concerns the consumption of an Artificial Devil Fruit created by Dr. Vegapunk. A replica of the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon possessed by Kaido. Dr. Vegapunk deemed this Devil Fruit replica a failure. I have separate thoughts on that...
Why is it considered a failure?
Dr. Vegapunk saw that it did not have the telltale signs of being a true Devil Fruit replication. However, I don't think he truly understood the wider implications of that issue.
The major problem concerning Momonosuke is the Devil Fruit he consumed lacks information properties! Momonosuke did not know how to transform back into a human when he originally turned into a dragon.
Normally, a Devil Fruit user gains an innate understanding about their abilities immediately after eating their fruit. Momonosuke did not have an innate understanding about his abilities immediately after eating his Devil Fruit. Instead, he immediately transformed into the full dragon form and didn't know how to reverse it.
The wider implication is that Momonosuke does not have an innate understanding about ANY of the abilities bestowed upon him by consuming the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon's replica. So, his usefulness in combat becomes questionable.
That does not mean he can't gain an understanding about his abilities. It just means that he did not gain an innate understanding about his abilities.
It might be hard to try thinking like a dragon, though. Also I'm pointing this out now because I'm pretty confident that most people think Momonosuke is suddenly going to start going toe to toe with Kaido on even ground... but I don't think that's going to happen.
