I'm going to begin every theory I make by saying I hate presenting theories and I hate talking to people about them! Why? Because I never get positive feedback. Ever. However, I'm going to point out that you should expect crazy theories for a crazy story like One Piece. What are you expecting? Everything to be perfectly reasonable? Ha! That's a laugh.
Devil Fruit Classification System
There are things to understand before using this system to achieve a proper understanding. They are the following:
1. The first thing to understand is that Devil Fruits include the concept of All Things.
2. The second thing to understand is that Devil Fruits include the concept of The Voice of All Things.
3. The third thing to understand is that Devil Fruits are based on both physics and metaphysics.
4. The fourth thing to understand is that Devil Fruits must integrate into a person's body.
5. The fifth thing to understand is that Devil Fruits are based on the concept of a Haecceity. Therefore, they include the concept of *essence in particular things*.
6. The sixth thing to understand is that Devil Fruits are based on combinations of energy and matter.
7. The seventh thing to understand is that Devil Fruits comprise three properties of energy and matter; physical properties, chemical properties, and biological properties, and it is these three groups that define the trichotomy of Devil Fruits.
8. The eighth thing to understand is that Devil Fruits involve the concept of Physical Bodies and Astral Bodies, and it is through this those metaphysical properties exist alongside physical properties.

The same is true of things like Marco's Phoenix Devil Fruit or the Yamata no Orochi (Seven-Headed Demon God Snake). They are the result of belief systems and worship because the act of creating thoughts is a divine property related to higher life forms. Lower life forms can't think. It is God-like to create thoughts in that sense.
