Not only that but gotenks countered the same form of the same character doing a ball attack whereas gohan was shoved into stone
In their respective hand to hand dominations gotenks did more damage to buu and was taking it far less seriously

Religion is defined as having a sacred belief. Meaning a opinion hold to close personal value something coomunity members clearly have seeing their consistent denial of facts in favor of the message
Faith is defined as a complete and stotic confidence in a belief which does not depend on evidence. This means that to Super Buu, Gotenks wasn't considered a threat to his throne as the strongest. Meaning Gohan as being quite a fair chunk stronger than Gotenks.
