I wasn't aware that there exist some people who believe that Admirals are over Yonkos. I thought the story made it pretty clear when they needed 2 of the 3 great powers to stop one Yonko with the title of the strongest man alive and that monster had to be nerfed by mulitple angles such as age, illness, backstabbing, etc.
If that wasn't enough Garp stated at Mariejois, in the events that 2 Yonkos would team up, it would exceed their imagination(marines). Practically saying that no matter fear you have right now of this scenario happening in the near future, its pointless because it will be worse than what you can conceive. Oda is hyping up Kaido and Big Mom as the next level threat after Whitebeard in Marineford, plus Kaido has another title of the strongest creature, which means he should be stronger than Marineford Whitebeard.
Yonkos have received the most hype in the entire series, they stand at the top of the food chain and by default Top tier.
First mates are given special portrayal compared to other Yonko commanders, so i think they shouldn't be grouped in the same class, thus the need for tiers.
I don't mind no tier either, but it should be at least.. Yonko > Admiral > First mate > Yonko commander
Then again, tier are necessary for scaling someone such as Mihawk and Dragon, since there are no concensus on their power level.

I don’t know man look at king & queen they seem like equals, don’t see how that should be different from katakuri and smoothie IMO. Jack shouldn’t be that much weaker then king and queen and cracker isn’t losing to katakuri as easy as many people think.
They share the same rank for a reason. Sane thing goes for yonko with shanks being weakest and admirals too with sakazuki being at top... in the grand scheme of things those gaps are not worthy enough to make completely new power levels

At this point you could definitely be correct in that assertion, its just when i look at first mates they all have something extra, Marco has a mythical devil fruit which are considered to be rarer than Logias, King is an unkown supposedly extinct and probably mythical race, Katakuri has super future sight, Conqueror haki and Awakening. Katakuri didn't use awakening that much though, compared to Doflamingo. Prime Oden and Rayleigh seem to be at least Admiral level too.

Example: We know Doflamingo is an ant compared to an Admiral or Yonkou but we also know he is a god to someone like Franky. So obviously you're gonna need a seperate tier for these characters.

Agreed, those terms mean absolutely nothing, each crew and individual is different. You can group the top commanders together with the strongest being the first mate/YC1, the gaps differ in each situation.

The only thing we know is Admirals and Yonkou sit at the top of this verse as currently constructed, forming specific "equations" is the prime example of "inventing power levels" ironic you made a thread complaining about something you're doing yourself.
Tiers will always exist in any show to ever exist, this goes far beyond One Piece, as long as levels and gaps exist between characters, tiers will exist. You said a whole lot of nothing, you can't even grasp or pinpoint the issue, your post is all over the place. However even a broken clock gives the right time twice a day, so I do agree with you in that some terms in this fandom are completely redundant/ make little to no sense.
