Character Discussion Stop With Roger and Shanks Downplay

It happened first with Shanks, suddenly he was no longer the golden boy and being placed below Roger/WB. And not it is Roger who is getting downplayed. You think Oda is going to let his favorite actor inserts in the story look bad in front of anyone else than his golden boy? And its not just in the manga that Shanks absolutely shit on an Admiral in terms of portrayal, it has been consistent in every other medium too, specially the super hit movies.

Coming to Roger, the Rocks fanboyism (Rocks is great character but to uplift him we dont need to downplay Roger/WB/Garp) has suddenly made people start shitting on and downplaying Roger. Feels like you people have fish memory. You cannot see how Kaido who had first hand knowledge of Rocks and WB and Roger place them on the same level, actually Kaido wanked Roger over the other two. Imagine thinking that Chopper will start wanking Kid over Luffy.

They can claim that Roger is at his prime right now. But then they will say 55 yo Akainu is also prime.

Since Oden’s flashback Oda has consistently destroyed Roger’s aura. He is not the Superman pirate that the beginning of the story led us to believe he was.
He was very strong yes, he reached laughtale yes, but no he was not the strongest ever and no he was not selfless good guy that fight for the good of the world.

It is not downplaying, it is just what the manga is showing.

Tbf more characters who are introduced to be PK tier like rocks , Harald etc less special he will become. Even him becoming PK was thanks to chance encounter with ode.

He also didn't beat WB/Garp and got lucky with shiki.

Not saying Roger isn't a monster but he certainly is less special as of now. Rocks do look more better than him.

If Roger wasnt that powerful he could not have roamed the likes to collect the RPs or even get to Lodestar. He first went to Lodestar and then sailed the GL again and got the RPs and then got OP. Getting Oden was after the first journey, we already saw the relations between the pirates werent that bad, they were all drinking and partying together at Beehive. But the strength of Roger pirates was the real deal or Shiki would not have said to WB that the throne is empty and you can sit on it after Rogers death.
