I think the original Nika was a man who ate the Gomu Gomu fruit and brought about great change to the world and was born 1500 years towards the end of the age of the heaven.
I think during the age of the heaven, the world was dominated by the Lunarians and other winged races who ruled as Gods and enslaved humans and other races. Nika who was a human was able to stand against the existing order, freed the slaves and established a new era, the age of the sea cycle and established a kingdom which is the ancient kingdom. His name wasn’t Nika but was Monkey “insert x name”. After his death his soul merged with the devil fruit turning it from paramecia to a Zoan mythical human type.
Centuries later around 900 years ago his descendant Joy Boy was next in line to inherit the throne but his father died when he was young so one of his ministers, BB’s ancestor took over but decided to usurp the throne from the monkey family and eventually drove Joy boy away labeling him a pirate. BBs ancestor was a warmonger and destroyed many countries in his wake using the ancient weapons including Imu’s homeland.
A vengeful Imu allied with Lily to establish an alliance to put the unchecked power of the ancient kingdom to a halt and with the help of Joy Boy they managed to defeat BBs ancestor but before JB could assume the throne, he was betrayed by his allies and the rest is history
