In chapter 965, we've been introduced to the clans that ruled Wano that total up to six matching the six regions of Wano but the succession struggle led to a shake up in this old system.
First of all, there's only four Daimyo present at Shogun Sukiyaki's death bed and yet there should be five. The answer to this is of course Oden is missing having left Wano so Kuri no longer had a Daimyo at Sukiyaki's death. What's interesting is that Oden was part of the Kouzuki clan which ruled the Flower capital Already, but now ruled Kuri as well.
The implication of this is that Kuri had a Daimyo before Oden who was from another clan but something happened and the clan vanished and the entire region became lawless. I believe Kuri belonged to the Kurozumi clan and after the clan was disbanded for attempting a coup, the entire government of the region fell apart and it devolved into a bandits den.
Secondly, among the four Daimyo present, two are from the same clan. The Daimyo of Hakumai is Shimotsuki Yasuie and the Daimyo of Ringo is Shimotsuki Ushimaru. Therefore there's ANOTHER clan that lost a region besides the Kurozumi clan.
I believe this was the clan that was entirely wiped out by the Kurozumi clan during that succession struggle. The old hag in chapter 965 says that Orochi's grandfather actually succeeded in killing some of his enemies from other clans before Kouzuki Sukiyaki was born and he was arrested and so I believe he actually managed to wipe out an entire clan before he was caught.
The clan he wiped out was most like the Amatsuki clan ruling over Hakumai. I will give my reasons for why I think first of all it was Hakumai and not Ringo that lost a daimyo and secondly why it was the Amatsuki that were destroyed and not the Fuugestsu or Uzuki.
First of all, the recent information about Ryuma that was revealed in the vivre cards says that Ryuma was known as "Shimotsuki" when he was alive and he is stated to have been born and buried in Ringo. This gives the Shimotsuki clan a link to Ringo that stretches all the way back to their Sword god Ryuma hundreds of years ago. Therefore, Shimotsuki clan was originally ruling only Ringo and Yasuie or his father took over as the Daimyo of Hakumai because an entire clan that ruled Hakumai was destroyed..
The reason I believe its the Amatsuki clan that was destroyed is purely for dramatic reasons centered around Toki. First this creates animosity between the Kouzuki, Kurozumi, and Amatsuki clans that streteches back from before Oden, Toki and Orochi thereby creating a long standing conflict that Orochi and his clan killed both Oden and Toki's family and their children, Momo and Hiyori, continue the conflict. Secondly, Toki's entire motivation for time traveling was to find a home essentially. She simply wanted to go to Wano because thats where her parents were from and therefore the rest of her extended family was there too. Of course she ended up finding a home in Oden but I don't think she lost hope in finding more of her people once she finally reached Wano. Therefore the tragedy would be that she reached Wano and found her entire clan had been wiped out and the last thing she has now is Oden, who also died and she essentially gave up after that and decided to die as well. Hence the Dramatic reason why its the Amatzuki clan that was destroyed.
TL;DR.
Kurozumi clan ruled Kuri but were disbanded and Kuri became a wretched hive of scum and villainy which was later taken over by Kouzuki Oden. The Kurozumi clan had killed off the entire Amatsuki clan that ruled Hakumai before they were disbanded. A branch family from the Shimotsuki clan later headed by Shimotski Yasuie took over Hakumai. Ringo remained under the main Shimotsuki clan family later headed by Shimotsuki Ushimaru. Kouzuki Sukiyaki became the Shogun ruling over the Flower capital. Udon and Kibi remained under the Fuugetsu and Uzuki clans without incident until Kaido of course.
And nobody talks about Onigashima because thats the Shadowy place where the light doesn't touch and you must never go there, Simb...Oden.
