Our first major clue is Emeth. Something happened with him that caused him to invade Mariejois at this time. Robin also said fish man discrimination became an issue at this time.
Now we are introduced to Galley La. A group of giants who went missing long before even Harald’s time. Yet early enough to where Jarul knows about it. This is very likely linked to Emeth and the fishman issue.
One last piece that could tie into this is Ryuma. If Ryuma was not from the void century, my guess is he plays a role in the event 200 years ago.
Ultimately this buildup is going to go somewhere. It’s very likely going to be explored in a flashback. The only question is, who’s flashback?
I think the strongest candidate would be the man marked by flames. He’s so mysterious that we genuinely have no idea who he could be. He could very well have ope ope immortality, with his flashback covering the 200 years ago event with Emeth, the fishmen, Galley la, and Ryuma.
