Good day WG Yoho here with a quick blog this one may be a bit long but I believe i know or at least have an idea on what the story of the ancient kingdom and joyboy will be
As most long time one piece fans should be aware by now, One piece isn't an entirely new story in fact I'd say 70% of it takes inspiration from other stories and works of literature, for example Usopp was inspired by the boy who cried wolf and his arc was heavily focused on that concept, Momonosuke was inspired by Momotaro and the wano arc took heavy inspirations from that story, there are many more examples of this but that's not the focus of this blog
Today I want to highlight what I believe the story of joyboy, Imu and the Ancient Kingdom will be inspired by The Trojan War, The Odyssey and The Illiad
So lets answer the question what is the Trojan war
Trojan War- The Trojan war is a legendary conflict popular in Greek Mythos, about a man who steals a beautiful woman from a king thus sparking a conflict., that's the basis of it if you want a more indepth explanation on the conflict- https://www.britannica.com/event/Trojan-War can find it here. So what will be the similarties? well lets start with the obvious ones Joyboy=Paris Paris is the man who stole the kings wife and kicked off this war, I believe a part of joyboys character will be based on this idea, he stole the king (IMU's) wife That women was non other than Nefetari Lili= Helen of Troy- The woman Paris swooned I believe Lili will be partly based on Lili and be a major figure in this conflict, Imu was and still is in love with Lili all these years later to the point he admires Vivi who favors her aunt a lot, So I believe this is what set off the Ancient War, Joyboy who was from the ancient kingdom, made Lili fall in love with him, but Imu who was from where ever he's from was in love with Lili, however knowing that his kingdom didn't stand a chance against the technicology advanced kingdom that joyboy hailed from the 20 kings alliance was formed thus beginning the ancient war.
The Oddesey- So Joyboy's story doesn't neccesarily end with the ancient kingdom losing to imu in fact I believe it's possible he became a pirate after the war, after the world government was formed. but what is the Oddesey? The Oddesey is an epic poem that follows a man named Oddesus on his journey to return to his wife Penolope back home in the kingdom of Itacha. So how will Oda interpret this story into the story of Joyboy, Imu and the Ancient Kingdom?
Joyboy= Odysseus- Who spent 10 years following the end of the trojan war trying to get back home to his beloved wife, I believe after the war Joyboy was lost and stranded and formed his crew on his journey home to Odysseus was trying to get back home to his wife Penelope but Joyboy was getting back to Lili.
Lili= Penelope- The Wife of Odysseus or in this case the queen of alabasta and the beloved to joyboy, in the Odyssey Penelope bought time for her husband to return by issuing a challenge who ever can string her husbands old bow and shoot through 12 axes cleanly would be the new king and rule with her by her side. I believe her scattering of the poneglyphs was meant to buy joyboy time as imu and the world government where attempting to gather them and hide what truly happened during the war
Imu= Antinous - In the original story antinous plays a small antagnistic role as the leader of the 108 suitors vying for Penelope's hand through any means necessary I believe a part of Imu's character will be based on Antinous who tried to take Penelope's hand in marriage, he will fail because Lili would disppear along with the poneglyphs but Imu will eventually catch up with and kill joy boy.
so in the story there's a character named Eurylochus who starts a mutiny against Odysseus i believe Zunesha fulfills this role, he betrayed joyboy which lead to his death and he punished himself by walking for all eternity or another possibly a descendant of BB fulfilled such a role.
And that ladies in gentlemen is how and why the story of joyboy, Imu and the ancient kingdom is inspired by the trojan war and the odyssey
