Future Events The screen time of the Grand Fleet and why it won't be a problem (Cabbage is GOATed)

Don't worry about the Grand Fleet stealing the spotlight; only two of the captains will get primo page time πŸ‘Œ

They're amazing; Ideo has one of my favorite moments in the manga that gives me chills, Orlumbus deserves more page time so maybe he'll get even more, Sai is a badass/empathetic character with high DC, Leo is my lil fella and Bartolomeo is terrible but other people like him.

But they're all (mainly) entirely established as people; Oda may throw them something here and there, like say I wouldn't mind say Leo glowing up as an earnest adventurer, or Ideo wants to prove himself as champion amongst pirates, or Sai sill come into his own as the Don of the Happo Navy and as a hubby etc etc and they'll all have dope/hilarious interactions.

But the only two with true stories going forward are Hajrudin and Cavendish.

The future King of the Giants and the Pirate Prince.
Elbaf is an integral arc and post-Dressrosa Oda has put a bit of Hajrudin here and there with Buggy, Big Mom, and now even Ohara; he reiterated his dream three times in Dressrosa and even introduced us to each of his crew members in his cover story, plus his inner monologue during the Machvise fight set's up his future arc.

Then we have The Pirate Prince "White Horse" Cavendish, The "Carving Winds of Rommel" and Captain of The First Ship of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

He has the most substantive relationship/continued interaction with Luffy out of all the captains and elevated portrayal by Oda in Dressrosa as a couch sitter or post-Dressrosa in his mentioning by Ace/the reveal he was originally conceptualized as a former rival of Ace's by Oda; making it make even more sense why he was so tied to Luffy.
Keeping him in check throughout Dressrosa/speaking back to him, and being entrusted by Luffy/delivering the thesis statement of the fleet as a group.

He doesn't come to the fleet with a nation I.e Sai or a million men plus a Yonta Maria i.e Orlumbus or with the backing of his people i.e Ideo and Blue Gilly.

But as a famed captain with a graded sword and reputation that lives up to it; a dual personality with possible deeper implications to dive into; the head spot in the fleet despite Oda's attempt to say the ranking didn't matter to a point.

He has more to his person whether that's his cynicism on human nature as mirrored in Doffy's words to Momonosuke (the one good thing about Barto is that he's mutual cynical about society but from the gutter rather than way up high and with opposite reactions to and interest in the public) but ultimately principled in his position as former royalty.

And the few other distinct character moments thrown his way throughout the arc.

Cavendish is meant to be one of the pirates to stand atop the era; he could see the current ahead of him and tied himself to Luffy as the most senior pirate of the fleet, knowing that it's the most efficient means of getting clout.

(Read my beautiful thread on Cavendish/a overlooked and beautiful Dressrosa moment up above :catsweat:)

Cavendish's character cannot be complete without him performing great deeds worthy of his epithet and gaining much more popularity with means page time; we can anticipate his relationship with Luffy remaining similar and that in any movements of the fleet he will most likely take point in decisive action/on page representation.

So expect Hajrudin and Cabbage prominence and don't worry about the rest crowding the manga

:moonwalk:

Oh and Barto will be right below them/next to Sai but with less established future character needs/total buffoonery (Cabbage should be cleaning up his mess with Shanks atm) and being the worst fleet member so I shall not acknowledge him :optimistic:

Bartolomeo is the best one and he is more popular than Cavendish. You’re jealous and salty one of them made it into Film Red while the other did not. Mad one had a bigger role in Stampede. Mad one got a filler arc. Mad one is just overall just better. Bartolomeo is going to blow cabbagedish out of the water like always

Actually I don't even consider any of what you mentioned tbh; haven't even seen Film Red and don't intend to.
I've been a Barto hater since literally day one; I mean from the moment chapter 704 dropped I was defending Cabbage from slander (which was instant) and rooting for Bellamy which meant being opposed to Barto even more than his character just never grabbing me.
Tbh last time I read Cabbage and Romeo/Half and Half Barto made me laugh and like with any character I don't let me dislike negate acknowledging their ability/story role, so I regularly mention/argue Barto's extreme durability barrier aside.
No jealousy here; I like Barto a little now but not nearly enough to type praise of/voice the enjoyment.
I was confident of Cavendish's narrative superiority from day one and was well rewarded by Oda.
No blowing Cavendish out of the water has ever occured idk what you're reading tbh
Cavendish in canon was clear of every other gladiator:choppawhat:

Good thread. Always expected great things from Cavendish but this reminded me of what a fun character he was in Dressrosa.
Still hoping for the fleet captains to all come back with devil fruits

Also Cavendish best member
He's in my top five :amazing:

Based Grand Fleet Enjoyer :steef:

Cringe Bartolomeo Hater:lusalty:

I definitely agree that Hajrudin will probably be the most story-relevant captain due to his connection to Elbaf, but i think Cavendish and Barto are being setup to have similar levels of relevance overall.

I can't help it :yodawhat:

My brain stopped growing after Dressrosa ended; change is hard.

*Hajrudin and Cavendish most story relevant captains

And yah I agree Bartolomeo will be relevant; he pledge to get much stronger for Luffy in his inner monologue vs Gladius and may have an arc of redeeming himself for his bumbling with Shanks.

I just think ultimately as written there isn't as much to do with him as Cavendish and Hajrudin, so he'll ultimately fall one step behind but still be shown more than Sai (but not as cool) and I genuinely believe Cavendish was a step ahead in relevance in Dressrosa.

But they are a duo at the end of the day.

Ball and chain, weighing Cabbage down.

Good thread. I'm certain Cavendish has CoC. He will need it to contain Hakuba and to be a top 5 swordsman EoS. I see him as a new Squardo whom Luffy will delegate significant responsibilities to in the war. Just like Squardo he will be a silver medalist that is famed far and wide. (Utter shame Squardo only has 210m bounty, lol).

As for Hajrudin I can't say I'm impressed by someone going life and death with Machwise. That would have been a OHKO if Zoro had intervened. Giants just seem to be to big of targets. Top tier AP and AoE but they can't evade shit. So either we need to see a giant with top 10 CoA/CoC coating that hardly can be hurt or a DF like "shrink shrink fruit" would be perfect. I could see Loki the trickster possessing the shrink shrink fruit allowing him to become a human at will while still having a giants enormous strength.

I still remember how i was bummed that the main cast didn't fight Donquixote pirates on their own.
I was even more upset by their conflict against Big Meme and Least pirates becoming half-assed due to shitty side characters.
If the fleet steals the spotlight from the main cast all over again in future,i will come back to this thread to bump it with rage.

I love the Grand Fleet.
Hajrudin and the other Giants will flex and I agree that Cavendish might have spotlight, he's the highest bounty of all them.
- Cabbage's Hakuba might have end game explanations (like Mihawk, Im, Nika, Hunger Pang Big Mom)

Barto is lowkey a meme and plot, but hes funny as shit.
Sai and Leo could do some cool shit as well.

I don't care about Grand Fleet. It will be awful if SH get their ridicules power up only in battle against Teach. Wano is wasted thanks to Marco, BM etc. We need only SH development or final will make zero sence
