Hey everyone, I’m back with another theory! This one’s an old favorite of mine that I first came up with during the Whole Cake Island Arc. I can’t recall if I ever shared it on sites like the now-defunct Orojackson.com, but I’m excited to revisit it here. As the title suggests, this theory explores what I believe could be the final, ultimate ability—or perhaps a desperate last gambit—of the Soru Soru No Mi.
As you know, the Soru Soru No Mi grants its user the power to manipulate souls. This includes stealing lifespans from others and embedding fragments of their own soul into objects or creatures to create homies—like Zeus, Prometheus, and Napoleon. Under normal circumstances, the user only invests small pieces of their soul, retaining full control over their homie network while their consciousness remains anchored in their physical body.
But what if, in a life-or-death scenario, the user could go all-in and transfer their entire soul into a single vessel as a final act of survival?
I’ve always seen the Soru Soru No Mi as a superior counterpart to Brook’s Yomi Yomi No Mi, much like how Oda described Akainu’s Magu Magu No Mi is a more powerful version of Ace’s Mera Mera No Mi.
Beyond reviving its user from death, the Yomi Yomi No Mi allows Brook to fully manipulate his soul, detaching it from his skeletal form to move freely. This got me thinking: if Brook’s fruit can handle a complete soul separation, why couldn’t the Soru Soru No Mi, a seemingly more advanced soul-based fruit, do something similar?
How It Might Work
Imagine the user facing imminent death, with no other options left. As a last resort, they pour their entire soul into a chosen inanimate object—a vessel of their making. This process would abandon their original body, leaving it as a lifeless shell. Unlike typical homies, which only carry fragments of the user’s soul, this new vessel would house their full consciousness and personality. Much like Brook, the user would become functionally immortal—able to persist as long as their chosen vessel remains intact. Destroy the vessel, however, and their existence ends.
The Implications
Now, you might be wondering if this theory means I think Big Mom could return. Rest assured, I don’t believe she’s coming back—no need to panic! Instead, I’m pointing the spotlight at another potential Soru Soru No Mi user: Mother Carmel. In a previous theory, I speculated about a shadowy figure orchestrating events behind the scenes, possibly tied to incidents like King Harald’s death in Elbaf. I propose that this hidden manipulator could be Mother Carmel herself, having used this full soul transference ability to survive in secret all this time.
