At the beginning of time there were 2 god-like primordial beings- the great darkness and the great light.
The great darkness was evil and the great light was good. The great light created the world and populated it with humans and other species who all lived in harmony in a garden of Eden like situation. In turn all the people loved the great light.
Jealous of his brother, the great darkness eventually killed him and took over the world. He poisoned the minds of the people and created sin and hate and destroyed the Eden-like situation which had existed previously. The light’s corpse would become the island of Laugh Ta
He ruled for aeons and had dominion over the entire world.
But there were still local kings and queens on the planet.
One Queen, the Queen Nefertari of Alabasta allied herself with a young messiah-like individual known as the joyboy who could use miraculous powers such as Haki and gear the voice of all thing. He thought her how to use Haki and not only did she learn it but she awakened her own version of Haki known as COC. They rallied together 19 other kings and queens and went to war against the great darkness, defeating and killing him using their Haki.
They then formed the world government which tried to recreate Eden and rule peacefully over the world and they succeeded in ending suffering and injustice but what they did not know was the darkness had had a son named Umi and a daughter named Imu.
It was this government that created the poneglyphs and took expeditions to the moon.
The young god and goddess were just infants then but they trained and acquired power and then went to war against the new world government. One century later they were defeated. Imu and Umi now became the rulers of the world. 5 comrades of Joyboy and Nefertari had rebelled which led to their victory (these 5 would be the ancestors of the Modern Gorosei). They had the last century stricken from all records as the Void Century. 19 of the kings and queens bowed in allegiance to the 2 gods and were made Celestial dragons in return.
But Nefertari and the Joyboy did not concede.
So the 2 siblings used their divine powers to create the first devil fruit- the Ope Ope No Mi. They created this devil fruit in an island known as the Isle of Dragons. As a side effect the dragons here gained a form of limited form of immortality and the ability to regenerate from all wounds not caused by barrier haki. This caused this island to henceforth be known as the Island of the Strongest.
The siblings forced Nefertari to eat the Ope Ope No mi and then perform the immortality surgery on the joyboy, causing her to die. Nonetheless the Nefertari children were spared and allowed to continue ruling Alabasta but they swore loyalty to the gods.
Then the siblings constructed a gigantic prison called Impel Down and gave it 6 official floors and a secret 7th floor which was just full of water. The only way to kill Joyboy now was to use internal destruction Haki on his heart. They threw Joyboy into the secret Level 7. Since it was filled with water, he would continue dying from drowning and then being resurrected for eternity.
This caused the sea to henceforth hate devil fruits.
Umi would then use his powers to create the Yami Yami No Mi and Imu would use her powers to create the Pika Pika No Mi. Soon devil fruits would begin growing in the world naturally.
Centuries later, the head dragon of the island of the strongest would be attracted to nearby Wano and cause mass destruction before being decapitated by a Young man named Ryuuma. This caused the dragons to flee their homeland. The child son of the head dragon- Kaido would be one of them and he would vow to return one day, centuries from now, to recapture not only the island but of all of Wano. The dragon race would become mostly extinct over the next few centuries.
Years later, an ancient giant would be attracted to the island and start living there. This giant would then start trying to dominate nearby Wano and take gold from them. As a result after years of injustice, the people of Wano went to war against this ancient Giant who they called the Oni. Nonetheless, the people of Wano, including Ryuuma were no match for the Oni. All hope seemed lost when Ryuma awakened something inside of himself and managed to turn his blade permanently black. With a single Kamusari he decapitated the great giant and its skeleton lies on this island to this day. Many people would come to Wano after this for its riches and the island but Ryuma would fight them all off with his black blade and come to be known as the sword god.
As centuries passed, the 2 siblings regressed from the limelight and let the gorosei rule in their stead. They were eventually mostly forgotten.
Bored of his life as a god, Umi decided to reincarnate himself as a human. He was born into the noble Dracule family. The birth of a baby with the eyes of the gods made world news. Inspired by this, a man named Rocks D. Xebec decided to form a crew with the strongest pirates of his era and defeat the world government. But he was ultimately defeated. His young son, Rocks D. Shanks would be orphaned and somehow end up as an apprentice of Roger.
The Dracule boy and Shanks would eventually have the same dream of becoming the World’s strongest swordsman. Eventually they would grow up and have a duel. During the duel they seemed evenly matched in terms of swordplay. But then Shanks unveiled a power taught to him by Roger and Rayleigh- Advanced COC ! He completely overwhelmed Mihawk and was about to kill him when, on the verge of death, Mihawk subconsciously tapped into his divine powers, causing his blade to turn permanently black and setting him on the path to reacquiring his memories.
With his new power he completely overwhelmed Shanks and defeated him. Becoming known as the strongest swordsman in the world.
