So I was thinking about this for a while, and I realized that the story of Nika, a supposed sun god who freed slaves, oddly parallels Usopp's arc in Dressrosa. As we know, Usopp freed various toys of Dressrosa by defeating Sugar, these people were essentially forced to be slaves for the donquixote family. By doing this, Usopp became known as "God Usopp", which replaced his old bounty of Sogeking.
It should also be noted that in the official translation, Who's Who refers to Nika as a "legendary warrior", which also ties into Usopp's dream to become a brave warrior of the sea.
So what is the connection between Usopp and Nika? Is Usopp the descendent of Nika? Is Usopp the Nika of the next generation? Regardless, I think this parallel will surely be played upon as we go into the series. I wouldn't be surprised if Usopp played a major role in freeing the slaves of Mariejois.
