Questions & Mysteries Thoughts on Luffy vs Kaido?

It should have more focused chapters in the climax (just like chapter 1037) without any switch to other situations.

It should have escalating serious tone, ideological clash, emotional clash, story and lore clash during the fight, all culminating in the finale, instead of just powerlevel clash.

It should have character and perspective development from Luffy and Kaidou to each other (some kind of enlightment, the process of maturing, and acknowledging each other) instead of just having fun.

The powerups should have game-changing consequences. The loss as well. Remove the repeated loss and powerup cycles without consequences.

It should have extreme environmental destruction surpassing anything in the manga currently.

Seriously I don't know how to explain it.

Too long ? Too weird ? Too cringe ? Too many situation that could have been avoided ?

The issue for a fight is always the length. In any manga when a fight is too long, people are sick of it, lose hype, become cringe.
If oda had erased some many cringy moment, repetitive talks, others useless panels, it could have been dope.

Average seems alright for me.

All things said and done, I actually liked it a lot, I think? Great choreography and neat moments that will probably flow much better on a re-read without all the weekly waits and breaks. Not sure how I feel about the powerscaling side of things, but that has never mattered too much to me. Most of my problems with Wano don't come from the battle itself, but from other outside factors (for example, I don't consider the Nika reveal to be a problem with the battle, but a bigger storytelling issue, so I don't count it in there. I don't mind the power-up, only the fact that the fruit retcon creates a ton of plotholes and thematic issues)

However, if Bajrang Gun really was the end of the fight, then it's easily the most underwhelming finale to a major Luffy battle in the series for me. Kinda brings down my opinion of the entire thing a little, honestly.
