if you in Japanese the first term is “En-ou, Santoryu” meaning En-hell, ou-king, Santo- Three sword, ryu-style
the second term is “En-ou, SantoRYUU” with the change being an extra ‘u’… Ryuu is of course Dragon… An Eastern Dragon to be precise… The official translator probably changed it to “serpent” instead of dragon because the word dragon appears again in the name of the attack so it would be repetitive. And Eastern Dragons are serpents so…
Anyway, so what the fuck is all this nonsense?Zoro usually has pretty straightforward attack names that indicate exactly what he’s doing. Hell he’s the only character who has direct multiplier of some of his attacks such as 360-720-1080 pound canon like it’s Dragon ball. Even when Zoro just randomly started pulling out attacks there was some order like on the roof when he started using fire cutting attacks, he would add “Flame rend” to the attack name such as when he added it to “Crossing of the six paths” to cut up Prometheus.
But isn’t Zoro cutting through King’s flames in this chapter? Why isn’t the “Flame rend” added here? Would the name already be way to long to add it?
Now what is “En-ou Santoryu” vs “En-ou SantoRYUU”? Is the first one like the CoC amped mode of Zoro’s Santoryu? Okay. What’s the second one then? Is it ANOTHER sword style separate form both regular Santoryu and CoC amped Santoryu? Is Oda just making shit up to sound cool? TF is this shit?
