It almost looks like SIU had no idea of what to do to make those two destroy the portal and came up with this amazing idea at the last minute. Not that I'm complaining, it looks so ridiculous that I actually like it lol.
Watch how it actually works and Perseus' pessimistic ideas end up coming true. Actually, I wouldn't mind it. I prefer the portal getting destroyed and the FH not coming yet than to see the FH coming now and completely overshadow all the interesting plot lines we have. Considering what we had with Whitegarment, the warping should be very fast. It's not like we have zero evidence of them being capable of warping to different places by themselves either. We have Death Lady saying that the Great Warriors can enter Karaka's dimension on their own. Urek also used a technique called Spatial Distortion to warp where Gustang was (although it was on the same Floor).

I'm guessing that either Rei crosses over and we get a POV change immediately after or we get a POV change from the very beginning and SIU wraps ups some minor plot lines before returning to Rei.
So I'm guessing that this is either the last chapter of Warp Gate or the second to last.
Recall that Rei arrives in 20 minutes from Meier and Candidy's arrival in S3 E99. So between then and now, around 20 minutes have passed, and the Cat Tower game has ended.
This means that SIU needs to go back in time to cover several Cat Tower (and related) plots:
- Karaka and Dowon vs Fucile
- What was the outcome?
- What did they do afterwards?
- Cheonhee's Fate
- Why didn't she warp with Kallavan?
- What happened to her after the Kallavan warp?
- Control Room
- What was the outcome of the Crab Game?
- Cha's group and the hostages
- What happened to the rescued hostages?
- What did Cha and co do afterwards?
- The last experiment vs the Hybrider
- What was the outcome of the battle?
- Maschenny's 3rd Minion
- What was their mission?
- The Cat Tower itself
- What happens to the inhabitants/participants in the game now that the game has ended?
So yeah, Rei coming through immediately and a time skip backwards is the best option IMO.
