Character Discussion Understanding The Tone of the Strawhat Pirates

Just want people to understand the kind of tone to expect from the characters.

The Strawhats can be divided into 3 main categories when it comes to the way their tone/characteristics is written, technically 4 but we’ll get into it later)


1. Serious/Edgy

These characters pretty much always have a serious tone in situations and have little to no quirks very rare to see any form of comedy from these characters.

2. Quirky but can be serious

These Characters have a nice blend of quirky and seriousness to them, It really depends on the situation. The Tone of these characters is honestly a wildcard quite honestly.

3. 80% Quirk

Almost never a serious tone with these characters, Which isn’t a bad thing , they are introduced extremely quirky so it’s not bad. You do appreciate whenever they have a serious tone.

4. Nami

Nami is a very unique case, there’s nobody in the crew written the way she is when it comes to tone. She’s a generally a serious character that can be quirky but you wouldn’t put her with Luffy and Sanji and Franky when it comes to her quirks, but you also wouldn’t put her with characters like Zoro, Robin & Jimbei when it comes to her level seriousness since she doesn’t pose as a threat.

Great idea for a thread.

I would put Robin in a separate group of "Serious but can be quirky", or just called "Robin". She has that dark "humor" thing going on as well as finding creepy stuff cute, and is serious most of the time.

Zoro and Jimbo work for the first group.

Chopper idk, he's way mlre quirk than serious imo. Yes he treats the sick seriously but other than that he's a child goofing off

I wouldn't call it a gag but Robin did blush at cute things if you could consider it as a quirk or something like that.
