Honestly Usopp losing to fodder was embarrassing ASF, but they injured Izo who was able to defeat a fresh Cp0 agent while Izo was injured, so yes Usopp has a lot of growing to do power wise, but holding off enemies that can harm an opponent as strong as Izo isn't so bad as it looked in the beginning

Izo only got injured because he was careless because they were fodder, they good a good hit on Izo without a doubt but they still weren't much of anything.
I'm an usopp fan, love the character but I'm not about to justify his piss poor showing against fodder.
Character wise - I love him.
Combat wise - he's worse than his pre timeskip self.

There's no excuse to Oda's ass writing this arc, or when it comes to handling Usopp against fodders,, it was expected he didn't got a 1 on 1,,he did something crazy with his sniper skills. Instead Oda had him outshined him in his own field that tok against fodders.
Imagine Nami got outdid by a Navigator badly,, or Sanji cooking skills got humiliated in some small contest,, Zoro sword skills outshined by another swordman even in a country filled of samurai's.
You can't like Oda writing sometimes,, he did the same with Sanji against fodders in WCI arc,, He can have SHs beat 1 lac fishmen in FI arc then have SHs get troubled by dozen or hundreds of fodders.

Tho it was the first time when the whole crew fought a bigger threat(e: I mean a Yonko in here), on WHI mainly there was running away and beating up or at least hurting anyone who stood on their way since it was a mission to get Sanji back. The war on Onigashima is a real war with a two Yonko crews what are powerful as fuck despite of if they even are fodders.

Oda already emphasized how much of a role fodder play in wearing down a strong character. And Luffy, Zoro and Izo already specifically that the fodder in BP crew are strong, the fact that the SN ran away instead of just beating them all should tell you enough. They are not like ants, they are like puppies. Get enough puppies attacking you and even you will get scared and sort of tired after fending them off.
The only people so far who can solo a Yonko crew are BM and Kaido, BM because of her DF ability which is perfect for taking out multiple strong fodder who fear her nonetheless, Kaido because he is the raid boss master. Any other top tier will eventually be worn down fighting all the tens of thousands of fodder in a Yonko crew.
