I have been thinking a bit about the direction of the manga with Van Augur. To be honest going by face-value impressions its hard for me to see Usopp holding a candle to Augur - I think the level of which he appears to be out-classed by his BBP counterpart outweighs the differences between the other member comparisons, it doesn't seem to scale as well in my head (I.e. Luffy. vs. BB, Zoro vs. Shiryu, etc.), but I think the fight is still probably destined, and may be of some potential importance.
Actually, the Sogeking song came to mind. Is it a prophecy of sorts?

The prospect of Usopp having a 1 vs 1 duel with Van Augur on a secluded island (sniper island) all by themselves might not be impossible.
To me it seems Augur has a range advantage, probably a damage advantage, and now with his warp fruit he has a massive mobility and surprise attack advantage. I think Usopp will be the under dog, and under incredible pressure in a duel.
Sogeking - king of the snipers right? It's almost like an alternative version of the pirate king dream. Usopp's dream was to become a brave man of the sea.
But perhaps Sogeking can actually function as an alter ego with a different ambition - to become the king of snipers - a feat only doable by having a duel with the world's greatest sniper on sniper island. More comparable to Ichigo's Vasto Lorde half coming to the surface in a state of emergency. Maybe Augur will push Usopp to the brink, causing Sogeking to emerge from his consciousness.
And obviously, on some level this has been hinted at since Blackbeard's early appearances, when Augur shot that bird out of the sky.
