General & Others Vivre cards are Canon until they are not

This is now the third time Oda has directly told people to take the material written in the Vivre cards as canon. I think we should start believing him.

but of course we can’t do ignore the like dozen times the Vivre cards have gotten some random detail wrong. Or even a major detail wrong.

So what’s the explanation? It’s easy. Vivre cards are made from whatever Oda believes at the time or whatever he wrote down in his many notebooks at the time. This is different from what Oda actually decides later on

Not really, it's just people have to stop being autistic and understand that that Oda gives info but some random shueisha worker makes up other stuff to make it fuller.

Oda gives straight factual info like characters favorite food, height, or having a child at same certain year.

But then the rest flavor shit text like

"oh this character fought that character on equal foot with his famous swordsmanship"

is just some random shueisha worker regurgitating whatever shit he saw in the manga in his own words to fill in 500 word quota.

Not sure why this should change anyones views on VC´s tbh. They´re just a secondary source that should not be taken seriously, as Oda himself doesnt take them seriously in the story(Kuri DF for example). He has referenced VC´s before, but the fact that he´s even stuttering in this or whatever is just proof it´s him joking around in the SBS.

Everything is Canon until it's not, because as long as Oda still have an Opportunity to change his mind then anything can change,
It's not like what you get in Manga wasn't changed a thousand times from Oda's Perspective before it made it to Chapter,
The closest thing to True Canon that is difficult for Oda to change & must deal with is what makes it to Manga Volume,
Anything else is "Canon until proven not"

also if your argument is “Oda retconed something he previously said to no longer be true” then my guy, Oda does that in the actual story too

your measure for canon cannot be “has this thing never been retconed” because the actual manga itself has been retconed

Doesn´t Oda also promote and supervise obviously non canon stuff like the movies and OPLA? It´s not like he´s going to tell people to straight up ignore them when asked about it, since he´s making money off of it.

They are not cannon. Only manga is. Sometimes not even that.

Oda also is leading One Piece anime and we still had that ridiculous take about the 1% chance man at Wano.

Of course they’re canon

oda has also contradicted SBS before and his own manga. It’s safe to say that a series that goes on for 10+ years will have errors and retcons

Oda gives them info, but we don't know wtf is Toei and what is Oda. Anything where wording is concerned I don't pay attention to at all.
