Off the bat I don’t think wapol will actually become a strawhat lol. Wapol himself doesn’t seem like a character that’s all that important in or out of verse especially in comparison to vivi
So what if a big reason he’s here is to pass on his fruit abilities? It either being done through his death or vegapunk making green blood from it. As for who which strawhat would get the fruit I think usopp could be a good choice but more specifically his weapon.
We know that kuro kabuto is in a way alive due to it having some plant within it (ammo not included). With it being activated when usopp feeds it water. So what if he either straight up feeds it a fruit or he gets green blood and activates the ability similar to him using water. Since the plant is actually living it should be able to use paramecia abilities not just zoan unlike a normal inanimate object.
We were told in an sbs that if usopp himself were to eat a devil fruit the pocket fruit would be the most fitting. That way he can widen his arsenal and the amount of gadgets he’s able to carry. It being even more fitting when taking into consideration that his bag is almost just as important as his sling shot. The chomp fruit might be pretty different but I think it could still be pretty cool
