Shanks never specifically said it was from teach's claw. My prediction is shanks fought blackbeard pirate in elbaf and then lafitte used the hypnosis on elbaf cat to beat shanks and give him permanent scar several years ago. Shanks managed to escape with a smoke bomb, unseen by anyone except Loki

Considering the cat's paw is even wider than bb's hand which shouldn't be able to achieve that in the first place. I think there is a chance knowing the author.
