Powers & Abilities We misunderstood Sommers’ df

#1
I don’t know if it was translation issue or Oda never explained what he actually meant properly. Sommers powers don’t have anything to do with Love. They aren’t like Boa’s fruit that reacts to people’s emotions.

when Sommers was saying his thorns damage you more the more you love his hostage, he means people who love the hostage will damage themselves more on his thorns to try and save the hostages.

I’ve said this before when his power was revealed

I don’t see it working on akainu for example who is known to be heartless.

Yh whole love ting coming part and parcel with the thorn thorn fruit makes no sense.
Was actually thinking that it could potentially be a fusion of Kiringham's ability and Sommer's as that's the only way thorns having special abilities would make sense, hell even the fact that it's invisible to the eyes doesn't make much sense so that might also be thanks to Kiringham's ability.
If Sommers envisions invisible thorns that get sharper and sharper in relation to resistance then, Kiringham should be able to make that a reality with his abilities. Either that or it's just a figure of speech.

Nah, it’s still setup as a Sanji vs Sommers thing it’s that there’s no direct tie between Sommers powers and love… Sommers just likes used loved ones as hostages in order to bait the rescuers into his thorns… there’s still some connection to Sanji since Sommers uses love as a weakness
but if that's true why was the gym teacher bleeding from his head, and I feel the thorns becoming stronger based on love would make it stronger/dangerous. I mean without that ability why wouldn't Saul just be able to use haki to protect his hand.

That is irrelevant Saul could have used haki to protect himself from the thorns I never said Saul needed to break the thorns he could have just held onto the kids
How would he hold onto the kids if his whole shield thing failed… He put a shield in front of the kids and they started getting damaged by the thorns

also are you implying the shield is stronger than Saul’s haki?
