Yeah, I guess I'm expecting Moria to join Cross Guild. And chances are, he can read Poneglyphs, if only because Buggy doesn't have someone who can do that for him, yet. Unless Mihawk can, due to his special eyes, but Mihawk can't do everything.
...Mind you, that doesn't mean Moria can read Poneglyphs WELL. I could see him having been a fairly lazy "student". So, it's kind of like asking someone who took a few Spanish classes back in high school to translate a whole novel. Moria can probably only read every third word and kind of guessing at the rest. That feels like it kind of fits Cross Guild. And it could lead to a few fun gags in the manga.
("It says...uhhhh...'Remember...to...drink...your...Ovaltine...' Wait, no, that can't be right, give me a minute...")
And it could lead Moria to direct them in the wrong direction...which will somehow turn out to be the exact RIGHT direction, after all. Because that's just Buggy's luck.
Plus, Moria joining Cross Guild kind of fits the pattern of "failures" or "has-beens" who are slowly getting their groove back. Moria fits right alongside all these dinguses.
And given his time in jail, I kind of have to wonder if Moria has already slimmed down to his original, pre-loss to Kaido weight. So, Moria might already look a little different than we've seen him before, in the present day.
Other than that? I'm not sure. Maybe they could get some samurai to join them? But, they all think he's dead. And I just don't fell like Yamato fits the vibe of Cross Guild. Maybe Moria could get a sword? But, Cross Guild already has swords covered with Mihawk.
Maybe Moria has something more to do with the Moon? Because of the line in the Chapter 1138 Mural about the "inconvenient remnants listening to the voices of the Half-Broken Moon" possibly referring to the Kozuki Clan? Maybe this is all leading to Moria activating something on the Moon for Buggy that only a Kozuki Clan member could do, with their bloodline? Maybe somehow recruiting Moria leads to Buggy recruiting Enel? Who knows? "Gekkou" and "Kouzuki" both mean "moonlight" in Japanese, after all.
We also know that Blackbeard seemed to want to de-petrify someone who had been petrified by the Love-Love Fruit in the past. Maybe Moria's shadow powers could actually "resurrect" that person? Maybe Moria and Buggy can do something that Blackbeard can't, right now?
It's really hard to say what Oda's got up his sleeves. This was such a random reveal. But, the whole reverse-kanji thing makes me think Oda's been cooking this up for a while now. Either that or it's a REALLY opportune retcon.
