General & Others When does Kaido start caring about the One piece?

This has been set up from Zou that the trials faced by the Kozuki were largely due their knowledge of the poneglyphs and of Oden's journey to Laugh Tale.

But at the end of the flashback, this is seemingly not the case whatsoever. It seems every bad thing that happened to the Kouzuki clan is due just blood feuds. Kaido is implied to have a history with the Kouzuki clan and wants them eradicated just for being Kouzuki. Orochi is on a revenge plot also trying to get rid of the Kouzuki because of on ancestral feuds between clans.

The causes of these conflicts have nothing to do with Opening the borders of the country, or the One piece or poneglyphs like we were led to believe previously.

Does anybody have any idea why this is?

Other than killing the standard bearer and burning their castle down, when was it established that Kaido has a deeper feud with the Kozuki clan? Genuinely don’t remember this being a thing, but I have yet to reread Wano to this point.

OT: Kaido’s motives in terms of becoming Pirate King seem nebulous, I think all we know about his desire is that he’d like to start a war that engulfs the entire world and ends in his death. Doesn’t seem to be so much about ruling the seas as it is finding the strongest people therein and coaxing them into trying to take him down. Possessing a Road Poneglyph is, in his mind, the easiest way to bring powerful challengers directly to him for this end.

Its not so much established than hinted at.

Kaido is making statements about Oden's ancestors like he knows them somehow or at least has had stories about them and has opinions about them before even meeting Oden

Kaido’s motives in terms of becoming Pirate King seem nebulous

His motives as of now aren't what I'm asking, it's that in Zou, kin'Emin and company explicitly say Kaido was interested in the Poneglyphs and Oden’s journey yet thus has not come up once in flashback

So you would expect that he started actually caring about this stuff, during the 20 year time jump since he definitely didn't care about it before

Kinemon simply said that they were chased down because they thought that Oden has shared about Raftel to his son and Scabbards....probably something must have changed during the 20 year blank....

Anyways, we may get to know in Kaido's flashback....

Yes I think this is how it's going

In Zou, Kin'emon says Kaido wanted to know about Oden journey and the poneglyphs reading abilities of the Kouzuki.

At this point, it seems that he could only have started caring about these things DURING the 20 year time skip and not during this flashback since he has not brought it up.

The question is then when did Kin'emon and company run into kaido after the 20 year time jump to learn he wants this?

This creates very interesting possibilities if it did happen because that would mean Kaido actually saw and interacted with the scabbards after the time jump yet Orochi still has had no proof that they've actually returned.

This means Kaido knows things he isn't telling Orochi which explains how Jack was so sure Raizo was on Zou yet in Orochi has said himself that he is working off of pure paranoia and has had no proof that tny scabbards are actually alive

He just wanted to expand his territory in the new world and stantiate. No implications of him wanting to become PK

Kaido doesn't care and will never care about the one piece. He just wants to die in the biggest war ever and that's it. Only Big mom and BB care for it.
