Yeah all that’s irrelevant without the 4th Road poneglyph and without the knowledge of the way to damage immortality. If Gaban is the man marked by flames, he would eclipse any contribution from Rayleigh. The fact that someone can make a meaningful
contribution to a Yonkou’s crew reiterates how great said contribution is. Training someone when they are a rookie is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Just because it happened sooner doesn’t make it more important.

the strawhats were still getting help by the giants on egghead when they faced kizaru and gorosei (except zoro of course, he solo Lucci). They were already yonko crew in egghead

Meeting Rayleigh was foundational to surviving in the New World.

Gaban will be foundational to conquering it.

I have no reason to believe Rayleigh couldn’t do what Gaban did and vice-versa.
