General & Others Why can’t Oda do scenes like the Luffy and Capone meeting anymore?

You guys remember when Oda dedicated a full chapter to the mechanics of how Luffy and Capone entered an alliance?

Have you noticed so far how we have had multiple alliances forming in Wano with no context such as this and random Hand waving scenes?

Kaido and Big mom skip any discussion that leads to their alliance. We just cut from them fighting each other to them having formed alliance with the hand waving of “Well we will kill each other afterwards”

Luffy Kid and Law came together offscreen outside Onigashima somehow after being nowhere near each other and seemingly with separate agendas last time we saw them.

Drake and Law maybe have an alliance or maybe not. Who knows. They talked offscreen. Law says he is fine going along with some unknown agenda Drake has for no reason and that’s that.

Drake and Apoo cut to an outlandish plan about them thinking they could defeat the either the yonko or the people who defeated the yonko with just random fodder numbers.

For comparison, imagine the Luffy and Capone alliance but all we see is a CUT to Luffy and Capone shaking hands saying “well we both hate big mom so let’s team up” and that’s that. No actual onscreen discussion about where they are, what each other them can contribute to the situation (Kid not knowing Luffy could damage Kaido), disuccing what they know about each other’s reputation, reconciling any previous beers they had before this team up… Nope… None of that… Just skip to the obvious “oh we have a superficial similar interest, and the plot demands we work together so the audience can fill in the blanks”

Let’s not even start with Tama mind controlling the Gifters into subservience. She is like the embodiment of the plot now when it comes to “alliances”… just skip the character dynamics and jump to function

Because the BM and Kaido alliance was supposed to be shocking, hence the revelation without further details how it happened.

As for Luffy and Capone, well Oda needed to show how the character dynamics are and what the original plan was, because obviously the plan would fail. It makes sense why Oda decides to skip some scenes and not others.

Were you a weekly reader part of the community when that first happened? The big mom and Kaido business?… It was a a shock yes… But a vast majority of the community were also like “Wait, how did this happen”…

A very common idea going around was that we were gonna get a flashback to see how this happened… This is a momentous event in One piece history, surely we should actually see it happen… Like what could these people have talked about that could lead to this… And then we waited, and then waited, and we reached Kaido’s announcement of them going after the Ancient Weapons annnnddddddd That’s it. Done. No flashback, just that. They are going after the ancient weapons. That’s the beginning and end of anything meaningful that could come from us seeing two superpowers actually enter an alliance

Nah, Oda could’ve gotten his initial shock and actually written a compelling scene afterwards if he wanted to… He just doesn’t actually have any ideas about how these two characters would actually get into this alliance so he skips it… Its fine, the readers don’t come for actual interesting political maneuvering or whatever… Kaido and big mom only exist to be musclemen

Oda is seemingly offpaneling whatever he feels unnecessary to portray. Even Jack's defeat was done dirty but I think an alliance with Luffy is an even more important event to portray on panel. I hope the situation will turn better as we progress.

it,s kinda impossible to this arc end faster ... why? because wano is OVERBLOATED WITH PLOT !!!

king vs zoro
kaido vs luffy in the roof
who save scabbrads? hiyori? where is she now?

yamato run into explosive warehouse?
raizo vs fukujuro ?
and the new plot Kanjuro create Kazenbo and try to burn everything plus kinemon tell usopp to stop it? another plot
also drake apoo alliance???

It was luffy and Bege first time meeting so we needed to how they both interaction and we didnt know what was beges intentions.
Luffy Kid and Law came together offscreen outside Onigashima somehow after being nowhere near each other and seemingly with separate agendas last time we saw them.
yes completely separate agendas like taking down the same yonko and two of them are in a alliance,:lusalty: something not right.
Drake and Law maybe have an alliance or maybe not. Who knows. They talked offscreen. Law says he is fine going along with some unknown agenda Drake has for no reason and that’s that.
he said "if part your plot is to let me go im a willing to be part of it" he let law out of jail knowing well that law is going after kaido, its obvious that his not goner go against laws plan, so both of their intentions are the same.
Drake and Apoo cut to an outlandish plan about them thinking they could defeat the either the yonko or the people who defeated the yonko with just random fodder numbers.
apoo was the one who brought up the plan to drake and was trying to talk drake into a teaming up, did you read the chapter?
what each other them can contribute to the situation (Kid not knowing Luffy could damage Kaido), disuccing what they know about each other’s reputation, reconciling any previous beers they had before this team up… Nope… None of that… Just skip to the obvious “oh we have a superficial similar interest, and the plot demands we work together so the audience can fill in the blanks”
um they both want to take down kaido, luffy already asked kid if wanted to join up, they were in the same place thats it that and have the same goal, really think either character would do anything that you have said stop putting yourself in the situation, niether of them would sit talk about the situation.

they both want to take down kaido,
Okay so both Luffy and Capone wanted to defeat Big mom… Jimbei tells Luffy this before even the meeting while they are still on WCI

So, imagine it played out like this. Jimbei tells Luffy and Nami and Sanji that Capone secretly wants to defeat Big mom, and then we CUT to Luffy having accepted the alliance, they are now talking about the whole caeser shenanigans and how to save the vinsmokes and that’s that.

We literally never see anything in between. Stuff like Luffy telling Capone he wants to punch him for shooting pekoms. And everything else that went on in the negotiations in that chapter.

it seems you have greatly misunderstood what I was even talking about. Do you remember that Drake tells Zoro he hates Apoo? Drake says that. And then we cut to. Drake making an alliance with Apoo because “they both want to take out the yonko”… No actual character interactions. No dynamics to speak of. It’s just “we have the same goal so whatever”

Kid never agreed to team up they were at the same place at same time, we saw everthing that happen between kid and luffy before the sea battle last time we saw them together was at the prison so there was nothing for oda to skip.
